Be Yourself
Be Yourself
Good morning to the honorable judges, teachers and friends. Today I am going to deliver a speech about “ Be Yourself”.

Firstly, find yourself. You can't be yourself if you do not understand, and accept yourself first.
Stop caring about how people perceive you. The fact is, it really doesn't matter. It's impossible to be yourself when you're caught up in wondering "Do they think I'm funny? Does she think I'm short? Do they think I'm stupid?" To be yourself, you've got to let go of these concerns and just let your behavior flow, with only your consideration of others as a filter—not their consideration of you.

Beside that, Be honest and open. What have you got to hide? You're an imperfect, growing, learning human being. If you feel ashamed or insecure about any aspect of yourself—and you feel you have to hide those parts of you, whether physically or emotionally—then you have to come to terms with that and learn to convert .

Relax. and stop worrying about the worst that could happen, especially in social situations. So what if you fall flat on your face? Or get spinach stuck in your teeth? Learn to laugh at yourself both when it happens and afterwards. Turn it into a funny story that you can share with others. It lets them know that you're not perfect and makes you feel more at ease, too.

Next, Have a Productive Day. Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and that some days, you're the statue. People might raise eyebrows and even make fun, but as long as you can shrug and say "Hey, that's just me" and leave it at that, people will ultimately respect you for it, and you'll respect yourself.

Lastly, believe in who you are. If you're always working to be someone you're not, you'll never be a happy person. Be yourself and show the world you're proud the way you are! Yea and don't forget that being yourself and honesty is the best policy!

When most people look at me, they don’t always see me. They see a girl. They see a quiet girl who is a big reader. They see a girl who is a hard worker and does well in school. They see the sister of three younger brothers. It’s true. I’m all of these things. I am also much, much more. I am mature in certain matters, and childish in others. I change my personality according to my surroundings, and do not show the world the real me. There are even some things that my family does not know about the real me.…

Think about introducing yourself. You probably always begin by saying the things you like, what you are good at, and show an image of yourself you want everyone to see. We all wish we were just what everyone sees. The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseni, is a novel that talks about the life of Amir, an Afghan boy who made a terrible mistake when he was very young. Those mistakes ended up shaping Amir’s personality and life. In this book, Amir represents human nature, but not the one we go around bragging about. He reflects the flaws we should be able to see in ourselves in order to redeem ourselves. This flaws are just a starting point in the road to forgiving ourselves for what we have done wrong. Amir reflects the parts of ourselves that we don’t…

Popular article Mirror Mirror: Seeing Yourself as Others See You is an article in a magazine by Carlin Flora. She explains to the reader the way we see ourselves is the way we think people will see us. We as humans want and need to feel accepted and that’s the reason why we feel this social anxiety when we feel like we are being judged or not accepted. Humans are constantly relying on others to feel good about their selves. Flora uses findings of psychologist Paul Ekman that explains the effects of first impressions and Professor of psychology Mark Leary which explains the way self-concept can trigger these anxieties. This article informs the reader that when you focus on just your flaws and worry about how you come off at social events it will limit your behavior and suppress your spirit (Flora, 2005).…

What does it mean to “be yourself”? What does it mean to conform to comply with others standards or opinions? Do you ever change your appearance, behaviors, or actions based on what you believe others will think? When venturing into the topic of conformity vs individuality, I strongly believe that you should strive to both exercise conformity and individuality in your life. It feels great to be part of a group, to fit in, but in doing so DO NOT lose sense of who you truly are. If in social situations you find yourself being steered to talk differently, act differently, or simply do things differently from the way you truly are, then you may be conforming in order to fit in. Be who you genuinely are, not who people want you to be. Ultimately,…

Its easier said than done, being completely myself I mean. The world expects me to be myself and to not bother worrying about what others think, but at the same time they want to judge me for every single thing I do. I will never feel like I can dress exactly the way I want, act the way I want, or be the way I want without someone having something negative to say about it. That’s the way society is and I have to either be myself or drive myself crazy trying to be perfect. I envy the girls that can be themselves without being concerned with what someone else is going to think, because I can’t put on an outfit in the morning without that crossing my mind.…

Society, parents, friends, teachers, and media, are encouraging individuals to "be yourself." Initially the idea of being yourself seems only natural, maybe even unavoidable. In order to be yourself, one must first know exactly what their "self" is. Based on biological criteria, the first characteristic of our "self" is given to us at birth----our sex. We are given our sexual identity, female or male, and expected to have the same gender identity. Males should be male, and females should be female. In regards to gender, though, what actually does it mean to be female or male? How are the ideals for each gender formed? Gender performativity, first introduced by Judith Butler, attempts to answer these questions. (Chinn 1997:294)…
