OBJECTIVES:
1. To provide basic knowledge of business statistics

2. To make the students understand the statistical tools for business
(10 hours)
MODULE I: INTRODUCTION
Introduction to statistics and scope. Source of collecting data. Classification-meaning and types of classification. Preparation of frequency distribution table. Tabulation-meaning and components. Preparation of table. Diagrammatic and graphical presentation.
MODULE II : MEASURES OF CENTRAL TENDENCY
(12 hours)
Measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion. Mean, Median and Modeproblems. Problems of range, Quartile deviation, Standard deviation and co-efficient of variation. Calculation of combined mean and standard deviation and calculation of missing frequency by using mean and median.
MODULE III : INDEX NUMBERS
(10 hours)
Meaning and Types of index number. CONSTRUCTION of price and quantity index numbers i.e. Laspyres, Paasches, Fishers and Marshall-Edgeworth index numbers.
Consumer price index number. Time reversal test and Factor reversal test.

MODULE IV : TIME SERIES
Meaning and components of time series. Methods of time series- moving averages and linear trend method (least
