They ran, they ran like they have never ran before, they feared being captured or worse, death! The worst part of it all was it was just the beginning. The first battle of Bull Run was the first major battle of the United States Civil War which resulted in a major loss and retreat for the Union. At the head of the Union was the sixteenth President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, who at the time faced an enormous challenge of a crumbling nation, the future was uncertain and terrifying. At this moment Lincoln gave the advice that became the best piece of advice I ever received and applies to everyone at any point in history. Lincoln stated that, “The best way to predict your future is to create it”.
