Basics Concepts of Unity and Integration
BASICS CONCEPTS OF UNITY AND INTEGRATION Unity is generally known as the united of different social and cultural backgrounds, into one physical entity. National unity is one of the targets of government policies in task to promote the greater integration amongst different race, different background of country’s committees. The unity of the country will be exist when the sharing of power, a democratic government sound economic distribution and cultural tolerance were found. For example, in Malaysia, to unite Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak and Sabah into one federation and one country is an effort to achieve the national unity. Integration is process to unite groups of different backgrounds into one entity bounds of common norms. As we known, Malaysia is a country which is own by different kind of cultures, races, and different backgrounds. The process to unite the various forms of differences between different background, religion and cultural into one common identity by put aside the differences of the origin form of them we call as national integration process. The integration and unity is not an easy process especially in country that have different and various background, cultural and religion. All of them have their own different term of language, different cultural believes and religion. To set them into one common entity is not a easy process. Therefore, the government and prime minister especially, have set three basics concepts of unity and integration. The three basic concepts are assimilation, amalgamation and pluralism.
ASSIMILATION Assimilation is a process by which individuals from one cultural group that will merge or blend into the second cultural group. Assimilation process will be dividing into different group which is cultural assimilation, language assimilation and social assimilation. It is suitable being used in Malaysia which is compound of various and different types of committees. The cultural assimilation will involve the process
