Barangay Bagontapay was created under Municipal law in 1946 the name Bagontapay was taken from the name of a big tree named by the old people from antique “Bagon” and under this three are water lily in which common scene in this place at that time. The first appointed Teniente Del Barrio was MR. JUAN ANTONIO. The first settlers are the Gersava, Antonio, Espanola and Tajan Families. In 1972 Assemblyman Ernesto Roldan donated a lot for Public Market and added by Juan Gersava to make 1.5 hectares Public market who gives enough income for the residents and Barangay and at presents the center of Business in the Barangay (Barangay Profile, Barangay Bagontapay, M’lang). For years the Barangay Administration under 13th Sanagontapay constracted/developed more than six kilometers well limestone graveled Barangay road that available to farmer rain or shine especially harvest time that help lessen the market expenses of the farmers. Starting year 2003 construction of an eight kilometers farm to market road is ongoing to connect the remote purok (district) and farmland to market place. Barangay Bagontapay has a total population of more than 6,211 (2002 survey) composed of 3,172 female and 3,039 male with a total of 2,817 number of families living in a households (Barangay Profile, Barangay Bagontapay, M’lang).
Background of the Existing System Barangay Bagontapay used manual based process, they manually handle files and information they get. Including the registration of old and new individual resident. The Barangay book keeper of Bagontapay counts the number of residence manually and may cause to inaccurate information and time consuming for the repetition of counting. In storing the files and records of the Barangay they used folders.
Staff and employee’s is experiencing difficulty in retrieving data and hard time of counting the number of residence manually. Though they have system in registering resident, as what we have question to them the system is not fully functioning because the authorized person forgot the database username and password and she said also that there are 25 resident that being stored in the system. The folder that contains the files and information of the resident every barangay is being stored in drawers the concern is records and files might be lost or misplaced.
Business Activities
Barangay Hall of Bagontapay opens from 8:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the afternoon with no noon break. Barangay officials have their meeting session every Tuesday at 1:30 in the afternoon. They have three (3) computers.
