Banned Pork for “Porksentatives”
Banned Pork for “Porksentatives”
After the Napoles scam and the Priority Developmental Assistance Fund (PDAF) allotment "ork glitch aroused, President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III have said to an interview that he will not release any pork until the probe is not ended.
"We will finish the investigation first and check if there are loopholes that can still be closed," Pres. Aquino said to Makki Polido on his interview in Greater Manila Area (GMA7). The action of PNoy doesn’t mean the pork is totally abolished. This action of prudency is based on the great number of linked representatives, who received illegal pork or we call the “Porksentatives”. But once the pork is stopped what will support the local government unit (LGU) for its projects?
The pork barrels are used for soft and hard projects. These projects help the community and its people. Only the representative in the area can choose to which Non-Government Organization (NGO) will he/she gave a percentage of the allotted pork for its project.
The responsibility that the Commission on Audit (COA) must check if the projects were really done as it was written in the report of the representatives is important in terms of scrutinizing what happened to the money. But the loophole is this, for so many legislators who receive pork every year and NGOs which were given by the representatives; some use this opportunity for writing inaccurate data in their reports. This involves connivance of the NGO and the representatives as the conclusion for Napoles case.
Representatives were chosen by the people in the local community because of trust that they will use the money in the righteous way. But since the issue of removing the pork barrels now vigorous to the mass again, after the fertilizer scam of 2004 plus the new PhP 10B scam, our government should reflect if the pork must discard totally.
Two solutions are seen to this problem: the approval of the Philippine freedom of information bill which allow our people to

Meet Your Rep. The Constitution states, “The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States…” (Art. I, Sec. 2). Contrast this with the original constitutional language for the other house of Congress, “The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof for six Years…” (Art. I, Sec. 3). The phrase “chosen by the Legislature” was changed to “elected by the people” by the 17th Amendment, but not until 1912. In other words, from the beginning the House of Representatives was intended to be exactly what its name suggests –representative of the people. (Note that in 2010 the Tea Party, and some Republican politicians, called for repeal of the 17th Amendment, eliminating the popular vote for Senators. While most Republican politicians have backed away from that view, many Tea Party chapters continue to demand its repeal.)…

In the United States, horses have never been raised for human consumption, but our horses have been bought and slaughtered by a predatory to high-end diners in Europe and Asia. The suffering begins before the horses reach the slaughterhouses. Horses can be left for long periods of time packed in trailers. When the horses are herded through the plant to get slaughtered, the workers use fiberglass rods to poke and beat their faces, necks, backs and legs as they are shoved into the kill box. Until Congress passes a legislation banning horse slaughter into law, show horses, race horses, foals, wild horses and family horses will continue to fall prey to this industry.…

I find the issue of representation is very important to the new system of government that is wanted to be set up. The way to determine the representation can have different approaches, whether it’s one or two houses, or representation based on population or equal. Without the right system, the states will not be represented correctly and it could become unfair to other states because they are either not powerful enough or neglected because of their size. The idea has been pitched of two houses and one is equal and the other is based on the contribution to the treasury. The many different ideas about how to represent seem endless but the right one must be chosen.…

One reason for this problem was that there was no real inspection of the meat. A quote from "The Jungle" tells of a government inspector checking the hogs for Tuberculosis, "This government inspector did not have a manner of a man who was worked to death; he was apparently not haunted by a fear that the hog might get by before he had finished his testing. If you were a sociable person, he was quite willing to enter into conversation with you and to explain the deadly nature of the ptomaines which are found in tubercular pork; and while he was talking with you you could hardly be so ungrateful to notice that a dozen…

Animals are unique creatures placed all around the world, each with their own genuine, exotic, and weird personalities. Unfortunately, every year, “scientists” use them to test potentially dangerous products that most people use in our everyday lives. Although scientists claim that there is no other way to test them, and that their work ethics are a necessity to keep the society safe, they are wrong. There are many other ways to test animals without harming them, and “scientists” should be using those ways with no problem. Animal testing is inhumane, cruel and unethical, and there are other, non-harmful ways to test.…

The number of animal tests rose from 1,566,944 in 1997 to 2,705,722 from the Journal of Medical Ethics. Animal Experimentation is when animals are used for scientific research and to test certain products. Scientists have used this method for a number of years and rely on it to be the most adequate way. However, it may not be the most accurate way of testing. Animal Testing has gotten more popular since the late 1900s. Many different types of animals are used in research, some of them are not practical animals because they are so different from humans. Examples of animals that are used in research are rodents, dogs, cats, monkeys, and gorillas. Animal Experimentation should be banned because animals are getting harsh treatment, people will…

Pork Barreling and Earmarking are slang terms typically referring to government spending by politicians to gain more votes toward their campaign Examples of this include our very own Robert C. Hall bridge at Marshall University. However, Earmarking and Pork Barreling are not quite the same thing. Congressional earmarks are typically defined as guarantees of federal expenditures to certain recipients in appropriations-related documents, while "pork" involves funding for government programs in which their economic or service benefits are mainly focused in a particular area, but charge all taxpayers for the cost. Things such as public works projects and specific national defense spending projects are examples of this.…
