I. Statement of the Problem :

This study is conducted to determine the effectiveness of cayenne pepper and kamias mixture as a deterrent for insects such as flies, mosquitoes and cockroaches. The experiment is done by spraying various concentrations of cayenne pepper and kamias extract on plants and insects to determine the affectivity as well as the toxicity of these mixtures.
Specifically, it aims to answer the following questions: 1. What is the most effective concentration of Chili and Kamias mixtures with the highest effectiveness as an insect repellant? 2. What is the significance of the study in terms of cost of production and effectiveness compared to commercially available insect repellants? 3. Will there be adverse effects of the natural insect repellent on the different species of insects to be used in this study?

II. Background of the Study :

An insect repellent is a substance applied to skin, clothing, or other surfaces which discourages insects and arthropods in general from landing or climbing on that surface. Most pesticides and insecticides are used in homes, gardens and farms to kill or deter pests and insects. Insects and pests need to be kept away because they cause diseases and cause damage to property. Some pests like the cockroach are also very unhygienic. The most common household pesticides are chemically manufactured and may contain toxins that may be harmful to our health, especially to children. These chemically manufactured spray- can of insecticide generate fumes, releasing chemicals that spread everywhere and are inhaled. Also, most farmers use pesticides to protect their crops and increase yield. However, these pesticides seep into the soil, contaminate ground water and hence, adversely affect the food chain.

III.Materials:

1 Pc. Of Kamias 5 Pcs. Of Cayenne Pepper

Saucer Pepper

1 Table Spoon Of Water Timer
IV.Methodology :

First prepare the saucer, 1 kamias, 5 cayenne pepper, one half tablespoon of pepper and 2 teaspoons of water. Squeeze 5 cayenne pepper until it extract. Grind the kamias and mix together with the extract of the cayenne pepper. Add one half tablespoon of powdered pepper and 1 teaspoon of water. Mixed thoroughly all the ingredients. Get the extract of all the mixed ingredients and placed it where the cochroach is in . Get the time until the cockroach died.

V.Recommendation :

We Recommend to all of you to use our product to save money and to help you to prevent diseases that you can get using other product that contains chemicals and toxins. Be careful in using our product because it might harmed you. Do not rub this product in any part of your body because it may cause the irritation of the skin due to the dried spice of the cayenne pepper. After using our product, wash your hands to lose the smelly odor in our hands.

VI.Result : We discovered that the Cayenne Pepper and a Kamias can be an insect repellant . We invent this product because wanted to save money and to prevent from getting a disease from the chemicals in the other products. We get the extract from the cayenne pepper and in the kamias then we add a pepper. We placed the extract in where the cockroach is in. Our product is very effective. We haved already explored in our experiment and proved that the cockroach died. The cockroach died after 25 seconds. You can also do our experimentation to your home to believed that this product is very effective. But we still need to take further precautions in using it because it will cause irritation in your skin.

According to the University of Minnesota 2004, Chemical Insecticides are a substance that destroys insects by chemical action. Some insecticides also destroy mites, ticks, and spiders. Because it kills, an insecticide differs from a repellent, such as DEET, citronella, or creosote, which merely keeps insects away. Insecticides are a form of pesticide; other pesticides include herbicides (weed killers) and fungicides (fungus killers). Many insecticides are poisonous to human beings. Labels on insecticide containers list special precautions for safe use. Fruits and vegetables that have been treated with insecticides always should be washed before they are eaten. Insecticides are also agents of chemical or biological origin that control insects. Control may result from killing the insect or otherwise preventing it from engaging in behaviors deemed destructive. Insecticides may be natural or manmade and are applied to target pests in a myriad of formulations and delivery systems (sprays, baits, slow-release diffusion, etc.) How about the Natural Insecticides? Insecticides have been used for centuries to fight unwanted pests. There are several natural (plant) insecticides that have been widely used, although compared with…
