BA: 200 Class Reflection
On Monday’s BA:200 class we were given a psychological test to see our pillars of professionalism: competence, communication, diligence, trustworthiness, and civil readiness. The test consisted of the professor not attending a class where we were assigned to work amongst ourselves on a project in. The test was to prove the Hawthorne effect: which is an improvement in workers’ productivity when they are being watched versus when they are on their own. From 1-1:50 I arrived in class early and began working on my midterm assignment. I was communicating with the peers at my table well and being very diligent in my work. After about 1:05, we realized that the professor was not in the class and became distracted from our work. I began to see a …show more content…
Some individuals from the class decided to be leaders and make a sign-in sheet for the professor. After the sign in sheet was out, a hand full of dishonest individuals signed in and left the class. The majority of the remainders began to work diligently and communicate amongst their peers about their papers. The rest conversed about non BA:200 related topics. I noticed that when one person leaves, multiple others follow them. Near the end of the class, the majority of the class was not communicating about the BA:200 midterm assignment at all. Some individuals were debating on crossing the people who left the class early off the attendance sheet but did not.

To address the ethical problems that arose from the class’s behavior, the dishonest individuals might carry on their dishonest traits to future employers if they do not realize that what they did was wrong. These dishonest traits can get the individuals, as well as the company they work at, in trouble. In addition to the individual and employer in trouble, their dishonest traits can get the university of Illinois Chicago a bad reputation. If UIC gets a bad reputation of producing dishonest employees, it will harm the opportunity of other students from obtaining
