Azog The Defiler's Role In The Book
Another character that was added to the movie was Azog the Defiler, also known as the Pale Orc. He has an important role because he is Thorin’s greatest enemy, and he is trying to kill Thorin. He is also the leader of the orcs. I think he and the other orcs were added to create more action, but I do not know why they have such a significant role when they are barely mentioned in the book.
