Marginalization in dystopian society
Dystopian fiction presents the world presents the world two types of characters; protagonists and antagonists. Often, dystopian societies portray the main character as a protagonist, in which they marginalize the characters thoughts. In a dystopia, the society is displayed to be very bad for its citizens because of the strict rules and obligations that they impose. This is shown through the society 's lack of enthusiasm to create more inventions since they believe it is unnecessary for the people. These different guidelines causes the main character to realize that something is not correct within the society. As a counteraction to this situation, the main character plays

“But here, in our tunnel, we feel it no longer. The air is pure under the ground. There is no odor of men. And these three hours give us strength for our hours above the ground.” (Ayn Rand 44) Inside the tunnel, Equality starts to discover different aspects of his life. Where he never felt so self centered because he was never alone. As described in the quote, the only reason that he is so self centered that he has time to thing of about him self because there is no one around him. For instance no odor from his brothers. This daily self centered part of Equality 7-2521’s life leads to a great symbol; Light, which also acts as the invention. The creation of the light bulb played a major role in Equality 7-2521’s life because his great invention was pointless to the council. This is so because “And they answered: "Since the Council does not know of this hole, there can be no law permitting to enter it. And everything which is not permitted by law is forbidden” (Ayn Rand 44) This quote explains that what ever is already permitted is in the law and everything else is illegal. Therefore from the society’s stand point this great invention is pointless because everything is already created and there is nothing else to done. The rejection of his invention sets him off to a rebellious path. Similarly, In Fahrenheit 541 by Ray Bradbury, Fireman put on fires instead take them out. Light illuminates human dignity and human error for Rand, both of which the society in Anthem tries to sweep under the rug. Once the light is brought by Equality 7-2521, society leaders fear it because everything in the society if dark unlike the house that Equality 7-2521 and the gold one found that has windows. By contrast, the city is dingy and dark, and the only colors are gray, white, and brown. The whole society lives by candlelight, that is one reason why the leaders are so fearful of the light. Even though the society is shaken by the actions of Equality 7-2521, it helps him discover his inner being. In comparison, in Fahrenheit 451 the mirror also symbolizes the inner being or individualism because a mirror causes you to observe one self. Towards the end of the book Granger mentions the idea of opening a mirror factory. The main reason behind this it to help oneself explore its inner being. Based on the two symbol, both books shows the willingness of the character to explore it

In the philosophical epic of Ayn Rand, entitled Atlas Shrugged, Rand allows much room for interpretation as to the meaning of the title of her work. As the reader progresses through the different stages of the book, their translation of the title and its relation to the story evolves. Through parts one and two of the book, one could interpret the title to represent two things: First, it suggests that, Francisco D'Anconia, a titan within the copper and mining industry, is Atlas. It was his strategic collapse of D'Anconia mines that seemed to shake the economy, with his rebellion creating a ripple effect that devastated the economy, as if Atlas used the rest of his strength to make the world suffer. It also, however, indicated to be in reference…

Equality 7-2521 strongly resembles the Greek mythological creature, Prometheus, in many ways. They both are very different from their people. Prometheus was a titan who was nothing like the other titans. He fought to defeat his brothers so that the gods could rule. Likewise, Equality is obviously nothing like the people of his society as he was told earlier in the book. “‘There is evil -in your bones, Equality 7-2521, for your body has grown beyond the bodies of your brothers.’”* Prometheus is especially known for introducing fire to mankind, just as Equality planned to revolutionize the world with his light bulb. But when he introduced it to the Council, they denied it. In fact they were scared of his light. Another obvious similar characteristic the two share is their will to sacrifice anything for their beliefs. Prometheus knew he would be punished for stealing the fire from Zeus, but still refused to keep it away from mankind. “…and he suffered for his deed.”* For his punishment, Zeus chained him to a rock and sent a bird to eat his liver. Every day his liver would grow back, so every day the bird returned for his meal. This punishment was meant for eternity. Equality also knew over his long term research that he would be punished severely if anyone found him, but still did not stop in his…

The novel Fahrenheit 451 demonstrates how people can influence one another into believing the same “theory.” This is shown all throughout this book because the main character Guy Montag who is a firefighter burns books as a part of his job, but what most don’t know is that he has his own collection hidden in his vents. Additionally, theme is represented well throughout this story. Theme is the main idea or underlying meaning of a literary work. This whole books revolves around the idea that books are evil. The government has imprinted this idea on the people, and this causes everyone to think that books are horrible and should be burned. Now this connects to the quote that John Keats says, because his quote is telling people that you shouldn’t be narrow-minded. Conformity goes too far it takes away a person's individuality. In the book Equality realizes as a kid that he is not like the other children in his society. Why have I obtained a title known as the fuck up? The answer is astonishingly simple; I utilize a product known as empathy to a whopping 0% efficacy with the end result yielding no friends. Obliviously my prefrontal cortex foresees the poisonous byproducts empathy authorizes, altruism and compassion. Side effects of these ominous chemicals include friendship, sympathy, love and moral fulfillment. Ayn Rand is an example of a well known person with the same social build. The Ayn Rand beliefs include craftsmanship of a self center celestial being furthermore seeing Altruism as a necessary evil rather as common good. Patently, I follow the Ayn Rand philosophy in regards to social ordeals. Given Ayn Rand social status, one can deduce that a person…
