Event-based prospective memory was evaluated in an experiment to determine the effects of task complexity on the ability of individuals to recall previously intended actions. Alongside this evaluation we attempted to analyse the affects of task complexity on an individual 's overall performance of an ongoing task. Participants were required to undergo a series of word trials and to make judgments on each, embedded within these trials were prospective memory cues which needed to be identified by the participant. The results were consistent with previous evidence of prospective…
Due to the fact that we are traditionally and culturally led to believe that history is, at its best, an unbiased account of truth and the past, we as people determine it as inflexible and objective collection of documented accounts and evidence. Represented as evidential sources that are reliable, history has however been challenged and questioned, as it is now a result of choice and preconceived outcomes. History records the big events; memory fills in the spaces and tells us, what the event was like. Granting personal perspectives that may possibly be a flawed interpretation of events, memory is evidence that can be distorted by emotions, influenced by suggestion and interpreted differently in terms of context. Triggered by small incidents, waves of sounds or connected to physical objects, memory is a process that can be recalled and kept in mind. Amongst the many texts that significantly display and contribute to increasing the difficulties in distinguishing the two, the American Smithsonian 9/11 Website & the Sydney Jewish Museum is relevantly the most intriguing.…
My grandmother asked me to go get some fruit from the food and vegetable section. I was short and asked if one of the store employees to help me reach the bananas and apples. A woman was walking by and wasn’t paying attention to where she was going and hit me with her shopping cart. My grandmother heard all the commotion and ran over to me to see if I was ok. The woman who hit me said that I was running around the aisle and hit her. The store employee told my grandmother that the woman wasn’t telling the truth about the incident. The woman demanded to see the store manager. She told the store manager her version of the event and demanded that my grandmother and I be removed from the store. The store manage then heard my and the employee’s…
Good afternoon everyone! I hope you all did well on the midterm exam we had last week. This course has been a very interesting challenge to tackle so far, and the assigned readings for Week Five were no exception. We learned through the assigned chapters and article on Professor Elizabeth Loftus that memory, an aspect of every individual which many believe as infallible, is actually fallible. In fact, the memory of a human being can be manipulated or limited, either intentionally or unintentionally, through various ways. This can cause problems as small as a family disagreement, remembering you were somewhere you never were, or even a failure to accurately recall a special event; however, it can also affect the reputation and sometimes…
(SIP-A) Mildred does not remember important events. You would think meeting your husband would be a pivotal moment in a person’s life. Not for Mildred, she can't even remember where she met Montag, "'When did we meet? And where?' 'When did we meet for what?' She asked. 'I mean—originally.' He knew she must be frowning in the dark. He clarified it. 'The first time we ever met, where was it, and when?' 'Why, it was at—' She stopped. 'I don't know,' she said. He was cold 'Can't you remember?' 'It's been so long.' 'Only ten years, that's all, only 10!'" Mildred is struggling to remember important events in her life, because of technology. Days have gone by, and Montag hasn’t seen Clarrise. Mildred knew about Clarrise’s death, but did not decide to tell Montag about it, "'No. The same girl. McCellan. McCellan. Run over by a car. Four days ago. I'm not sure...no, not sure. Pretty sure.' 'Why didn't you tell me sooner?' 'Forgot.' 'Four days ago!' 'I forgot all about it'"(44-45). Technology has impacted Mildred so much, that seeing someone die right in front of her eyes doesn’t phase her at all. (SIP-B) People who are away from technology actually do remember important things. When Montag finally escapes his society his mind triggers memories that he couldn’t remember before. One of which being where he met Mildred, “I remember. Montag clung to the Earth. I remember. Chicago. Chicago a long time ago. Millie and I.…

Psychological motives involve biological, social, and personal motives. In my daily life, I encounter biological motives in every situation. These are the necessities of every human being which have to be satisfied. I’ve been experiencing an intense desire for sleep because I don’t get to have enough sleep during week days due to school and priorities. There are also some instances wherein I have to deal with the avoidance of pain in order to meet success. One time, we had our project out of school and I wasn’t feeling well but we have to finish our task as to what is expected from us. I tried acting like everything’s alright and fortunately, I was able to fulfill the tasks given to me. Hunger is always part of my daily struggles. When I feel…
