You don't know what I had to do to get this far. What I had to do to be called the “Famous Accountant” that fights crime for just the fun of it. How I got to live in Beverly Hills. I grew up in the bad parts of Philadelphia. My parents were very poor. I had to rob to get food for my family and I. There were shootings and killings every day, and I was the lucky one to survive, but one day a criminal broke into our house to rob us and killed my parents. From that day on, I swore to stop any criminal so that no one would have to deal with the pain I had to deal with. It was a beautiful sunny morning. The birds were chirping the flowers were blooming, and the children were playing. It's 11:00 am and our main character, Starboy Stevie Be is going for his daily…

Different to Emerson’s time, by referencing societal influence, he was mainly targeting individual uniqueness which was made difficult by the high consumption of books and emphasis on unrelated norms of the 19th century. Today, social media is in constant focus and is highly regarded as an overwhelming and absorbing factor in our generation, causing our integrity, beliefs, and lifestyle to be very distorted and oftentimes, fake. Because social media is continually shoved in our faces, it is an unavoidable part of today’s society. There are many arguments made in favor of social media and technology, displaying the effectiveness of communication and interconnectivity. However, for every good thing about technology and social media are at least two downsides or negatives resulting from them. For example, because of the expansive and developed current internet, it is easy to be misdirected or swallowed by facts and information irrelevant to you, making navigation difficult and extensive searches irritating. In regards to social media, messages and conversations are done online, without face to face interaction. This often leads to misinterpretation and miscommunication and can overtime decrease our social skills. Also, because a majority of our lives are spent online, we have developed our ‘online identities’; it is common that they are drastically different than who we…

Inspirations come from many avenues. My inspiration came when I was 16 years old in the form of a 3 pound baby boy measuring the length of a ruler. Being a young adolescent myself, this was a very trying time for me. My son was born almost three months early and could very easily have not survived. The birth of my first child is what changed my life forever and shaped me into the person I am today.…

How and when did I come to the realization that I finally figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up? It began when I discovered I thoroughly enjoyed being an academy instructor for the Petsmart Grooming Academy in Chicago. I originally just managed a very successful salon for the Petsmart Corporation. My skills and extensive knowledge in the grooming industry landed me the promoted position of an academy instructor to train salon bather associates to become pet groomers. I’ve always been very passionate about grooming and continued my education in the field, so that I could be the best groomer I could possibly be. I then applied this knowledge to my associates and students in a fun learning environment. I still receive thank you emails from my students for giving them the tools necessary to succeed in the grooming industry. When I read those emails it makes feel so proud that I contributed to someone becoming a successful member of society. I had to leave Chicago for personal reasons and had to resign from my position. My husband and I decided to move back to Indiana after finding out that we were going to be parents. I received a position in Bloomington as the salon manager for Petco. I still have a passion for grooming, but the physical labor that comes with grooming heavy resistant dogs has had a physical toll on my body. I have decided it’s time for a career change! The decision to want to become a teacher was so easy for me to choose because of the joy it brought me during my role as an academy instructor.…

Together, these media have revolutionized the way we communicate and share information. Because of its relative newness, and its vast and continually evolving nature, social media presents as a complicated and multi-faceted issue. Social media sites are infinitely diverse, ranging from wikipedia, the online crowd- sourced encyclopedia, to digg, the social bookmarking site that allows users to “like” or tag websites as well as sort through other users’ tags. The uses of social media are widely varied, from searching for a funny video clip to researching a product to reuniting with a long lost friend, and the use of each of these social media applications, carries with it unique implications. This paper will examine the advantages and disadvantages of social media use in our society. Specifically, it will look at the effects on the business, private, and political sectors both nationally and globally.…
