Australian Bushfire: The Difficulty Of Firefighters
On Friday, July 31, a bushfire began in the New South Wales Blue Mountains and is expected to burn for several days. However, high winds are causing difficulties for firefighters monitoring the blaze. The bushfire was initially contained on Sunday, but wind gusts fanned the flames and caused flare-ups. Approximately 150 firefighters have been on the ground, aided by water-bombing helicopters, to suppress the fire. No properties were under threat of burning, however firefighters are still on standby near homes.
