Attires for Semi Formal Occasions
Semi formal wear is a fairly vague term used to describe wardrobe etiquette that lies somewhere between formal and cocktail dress. Semi formal wear should be dressier and, in many cases, more conservative than cocktail attire, which tends to imply nighttime wear with some sex appeal. Semi formal wear is appropriate for a variety of special events, and variations depend on the season, time of day and nature of the occasion.

Semi Formal Occasions

A wide variety of occasions will request that you attend in semi formal attire. These may be more serious, conservative occasions like a funeral or memorial, a bar Mitzvah or other religious ritual, graduations or a dinner in honor of a celebrated person, either personally or professionally related. Other semi formal occasions include school dances at the high school or post-secondary school level, weddings, fancy dinners or attending the theater or the ballet. These events tend to take place at night and focus more on having fun. As such, your semi formal wear may be less modest.

Semi Formal Wear for Women

For a daytime semi formal event in the spring or summer, a woman could wear a pretty summer dress, made of a light fabric like silk, chiffon or organza. Choose bright or pastel colors, or possibly a floral pattern to celebrate the season. A daytime semi formal dress should hover around the knee or extend to the ankle. Strapless is acceptable, but bring a cardigan or shawl if the event is taking place in a religious center. For a winter daytime event or a funeral, opt for darker, richer colors and more modest fabrics like wool or jersey. Nylons are recommended for any length of dress. And cocktail dresses are rather wise choice for those semi formal occasions, and those shown at http://www.pandadress.com/cocktail-dresses-c-3_42.html can be references for you. Separates can also be worn but be careful, as it is difficult to make a suit look formal enough on a woman. You never want to

This is becoming a problem in our society where people think that being informal and unprofessional will get you far. When in reality, you will only make it so far and then you need to act and look professional. People will give you more respect and listen to you just by dressing and acting more professional. It gives you a sense of knowledge and authority just to your look and people respect that. For an example, if you are the manager of a bank and you show up to work wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt. Do you think the other employees under you will think highly of you? Or give you the authority you deserve? Probably not. This goes for just about every higher job position and for as little as dressing up nice, it’s a easy start to being more…

Attire is a type of nonverbal communication. What a person wears at work says a lot about them. While at work we need to remember that we are not only representing ourselves but more importantly our company. If a customer feels uncomfortable or offended due to your attire at work they may refuse to come back. Some examples of inappropriate work-place attire is excessive jewelry, tight and short clothing and sometimes even clothing or jewelry that show off beliefs and religion. All of these things may put a damper on the way you and your company is viewed by customers.…

Social rituals, especially the custom of formal visiting, dictated the use of each of these dresses, or gowns, as the fancier garments were called. Women also wore suits, with shirtwaists (blouses), and had sporting clothes for their more active pursuits like skating, cycling, and tennis. The suits were coordinated jackets and long skirts, and were made by ladies’ tailors rather than by dressmakers. Shops like A. & L. Tirocchi often made the blouses or waists, as they were known in…
