I. Definition of Terms

Alpha activity – a pattern of brain wave activity which indicates relaxed wakefulness with

eyes closed and often precedes sleep. It is best measured in the occipital

region which is located at the back of the head.

Astral – relating to a supposed nonphysical realm of existence in which the physical human

body is said to have a counterpart. | | |

Comatose – a state of deep unconsciousness for a prolonged or indefinite period

Electrode – a conductor through which electricity enters or leaves an object, substance, or

region.

Epistle – a poem or other literary work in the form of a letter or series of letters

Inexplicably – incapable of being explained or accounted for

Lucid – expressed clearly

Neurologists – a medical specialist in the nervous system and the disorders affecting it.
