Personal Life and Right Brain
My Hobby:

Hobbies are very important to a person, without having any hobby our life won't be as colorful as it should be. There are so many things that we can do as our hobby, such as collecting stamps, playing musical instrument, reading and doing sport activities. Most of the time, I always busy spending my time on my hobbies. When I'm in a blue, I will also do my hobbies to cheer myself up. To me, hobbies is a way for us to show the people what kind of person are we, hobbies require devotion. Hobby won't be perfect without practices! I love every single things about my hobbies. If I'm alone, my hobbies would be there to accompany me. So, the following are some of my favorite hobbies.
In our daily lives, we work or study and after that, we continue with our daily chores. After what is needed to be done is completed, we normally have free time or leisure time. This is the time we would use to relax or do any activity we like, our hobby. My hobby is drawing, it has so many benefits that is barely known by many.

Drawing helps me to relieve stress. After facing our school books, reading the dancing alphabets page by page for the whole day, taking out a pencil and a paper is one of the ways to forget about them for a moment. Doodling on the paper can bring us into our own little world where only calmness is felt. Then, when we feel better, we can go back to our books and continue to focus on studying.

Besides that, drawing also has been proven to train the right brain. The right brain is where we get our creativity. When the right brain is used more often, you will soon see that you can have more solutions to overcome a certain problem. Many said drawing is just a waste of time, but after researching for years, this old saying has been proven wrong.

Other than that, drawing also can make the hand more flexible. Drawing or sketching can lead a person to learn to control his strength which can be useful. Students usually need to draw a curve line in a graph. It is because of drawing, I learn to follow the flow in the fingers and draw a smooth curve line.

Believe it or not, drawing is also used in the medical field. A patient who suffers from depression, autism or mental illness is told to draw what they want on a paper. Later, a professional psychologist or a counselor will interpret the drawing which could tell them what is the root of the problems they are facing. The professional will then give them proper advice or medication, if needed to treat them.

In short, drawing has dozens of benefits. To me, it is not just a simple hobby, it is what I love to do. Drawing has given me so much, if you have the time, why not try it?

As a first grade teacher I can attest to my students’ enjoyment of classroom time devoted to art activities. However, I ,like many teachers in my school, found art difficult to incorporate daily. The very few times that children had to draw were after they’ve written a story. Children seemed to enjoy this time of drawing but were often rushed to finish in order to share their writing. Many times I found myself saying, “When you are finished writing you may draw a picture.” Drawing was not stressed and…

Thus leading to frustration because they want to perfect their drawing. Just as Barry said “Pictures and stories happened in a way that didn’t involve much thinking” (Barry 59). What they don’t realize is when they were younger, when they drew, there wasn’t much thinking going on. Their ideas just flowed through their mind. All they did was scribble and make lines and draw simple shapes. As they aged, the drawings were more vivid and thoughtfully processed instead of being random scribbles on a sheet of paper. The scribbles went to shapes which lead on to making figures, by then the creativity in their head shifts into more of perfection. Once a child can’t draw something, they eventually give up on drawing in general. All simply because they aren’t being taught how to draw which results in the lack of…

The point of this activity is to reinforce teamwork and communication. If you are not clear or specific, the newly drawn picture can look much different than the original. Communication is an important characteristic of a team. There is also a little bit of trust in this activity. You need to trust that your partner is giving you a good description of the picture you are drawing. In the end, the drawn picture and the original picture rarely look the same. This activity will help teams realize that if you do not have clear communication, then you will not have high quality…

It reminds me that I have a talent, a purpose. I can do something that I can not only enjoy but be successful at. It really boosts my esteem when I finish a drawing and am actually satisfied with it. Although as an artist, I judge my work a lot. I sometimes draw something over and over again because it’s not perfect in my eyes, it looks a little off, a line is a little too wobbly. I do this almost every single time which also pulls me away from drawing, I get frustrated and angry with my work when I can't get it just the way it is in the pictured in my head. I am sometimes even too scared to start a piece of work because I am afraid that I will make too many mistakes or worse, waste my time. But somehow, I always come back to a piece of paper and pencils. Its how I show my emotion at the time, how I pour out my feelings from the day. I just relax and release whatever is on my mind. It is my way of talking without really saying anything. This is what drives me to continue, this is why I continue to draw almost every single…

Thirteen years ago, I can recall myself checking out drawing books as reading books. I was not an artist, but the ideal of transitioning lines and dots into a drawing picture caught my attention. During this period, I found no other books exciting to read other than these drawings books that showed me step by step how to draw animals, people, and other creations of art. My teacher stressed to me the importance of reading books that were more meaningful, but I had no desire of reading anything. Yet, I developed an interest to explore the simplicity of art sketches in those drawing books.…
