This book is one of the most popular among Chekhov’s work, and he used several major characters in this act. The setting of this play takes place at Serebryakov’s house, where the conversation begins with Astrov and Marina. They complain about since
Serebrykov stayed in this house with his wife Yelena, no one seem to get any work done.
However, Vanya is another character that wastes his life for Serebryakov because he has been taking care of this house since he was young as well as he really in love with his wife. He believes that she does not love Serebrakov. Therefore, it seems to be their love is impossible because Yelena didn’t love him.

Olga Dymov is a protagonist in this article “The Grasshopper”, who is talented in playing music instrument and singing, but she never become professional in anything.
The author uses her husband character, Osip Stephanych Dymov as the ordinary people and comparing with Olga’s friends who are celebrity and star. However, Olga is mention that his husband is good in everything such his brilliant profile, except one thing that he is “take absolutely no interest in art”.
