Assignment 2: Simulation Analysis

I began year three with $1,120.28, which was more money than I have ever had in the whole simulation. The first event that took place was the government event. I was very apprehensive because we had just elected a new president, Jacob, and had new house members, so I was unsure how they would feel about the laws that we would try to pass. Jacob also started out his presidency by saying that everyone will be able to have free healthcare, even though that is impossible, so the government had to figure out a fair way to allow the most people possible to have free healthcare. The job I already had was at an energy factory owned by Jacob and he also ran the government’s new farm and agreed to hire me. I also had free healthcare from the government, because I was one of the 15 people with the least amount of money. My strategy this year was to buy everything I needed to live first and then worry about life points. I went to Sarah instead of David for my apartment, because she was charging less and I got more life points for it. I’m pretty sure that I bought 2 food units from the government. Jacob was selling the food units for cheap so the government’s plan to make competition worked. I then bought insurance also to protect me from the random events. After buying everything I needed I started to worry about life point. I purchased services, manufacturing, and entertainment to boost my life points. I thought I was finished with the event, but then I saw that Jacob had extra energy units and they are worth life points too so a few classmates and I bought the rest of the units just for the life points. As a class, we had no court cases so we went right to random events and I got $800 from rolling. I ended with 12 life points just from the market event and more money than I ever ended a year with. Our country had no really competition for any businesses and it started to hurt the citizens. We then decided to change it just like the Sherman anti- trust law. After we made a law about it, I noticed how important that law is in real life and how much people would be over paying if we didn’t have it. I also think that our country started to grow as a whole, so technically you could say that the quality of life is getting better also. People had more money and could try to but more things to earn life points. This is just like when things like vacuums, radios, and cars were being built to improve life in the 20s. I can see how we worked together better when we weren’t as stressed and how people had better lives when their lives were
