The key aspects of the role of a teaching assistant are: * To support pupils’ health, safety and emotional/ social development. * To support classroom management and assist with general administration. * To help manage pupil behaviour. * To make relationships with learners. * To support the development and effectiveness of work teams. * To liaise effectively with parents.
Task 2
The tasks that can be carried out by a teaching assistant to support the teacher are: * Keeping classroom resources in good order. * Assisting in preparation of resources before lessons and tiding afterwards. * Cleaning and ensuring the classroom is tidy. * Repairing and maintaining apparatus and resources. * Assisting in the presentation of work and display areas. * Working with small groups or individual children - especially literacy and numeracy. * Listening to children read. * Reporting back to the teachers. * Monitoring the children’s behaviour.

I would work with the teacher to help determine how the learning environment should be set up. It should be set in such a manner to promote the safety and security of the pupils then I would get the percussion instruments and then follow the relevant manufactures’ instructions and health and safety requirements when preparing the instruments, and check that they are safe and not damaged, broken or dirty and if they are I would notify the teacher straight away.
