Assignment 1 FBE204
Good teaching is influence through conceptions of learning like individual or peers, family and environment. In general, it captures one’s attention, able to engage, acquire knowledge through learning and change one’s view to build experiences. Teaching and learning is highly interrelated with engagement and different approaches to achieve an outcome. The contexts encourage students to anticipate learning activities to understand objectives and absorb knowledge. According to Biggs (2012), there are three theories of teaching, which includes teaching based on student differences, based on what the teacher does and what the student does. This paper will introduce the theories with references to my experience.

The first level is on student differences, which depends on their commitment in learning and willingness to a better learning outcome. Thus, students are treated individually without regarding whether the information is fully transmitted or understand by them. This conception illustrates if students aren’t willing to learn, it’s their problem, either they’re not interested in the subject or they just don’t want to learn. As an experience, when I was in high school, while I’m preparing for final year before university, there’s a music teacher that gave us all the notes about the music score without giving any further explanation, as such we all know nothing and didn’t score a good grade in exam. This type of teaching decrease motivation and curiosity of the subjects, in fact it causes a negative impact to students’ learning because their attitude and the way they learn has changed.

The second level is on what the teacher does, Biggs (2012) indicates teaching is more proficient with clear procedural rules established, clear visual aids and having eye contact. On contradictory, the way of perceiving knowledge is based on students, however if teachers don’t obliged with their roles, the blame will be on them. In Macquarie University, majority of classes are in

The free group with two generators a and b is composed of all finite strings that are formed from the four symbols a, a−1, b and b−1 given that no a is directly next to an a−1 and no b is directly next to a b−1. Two such strings can be concatenated and converted into a string of this type by repeatedly replacing the "forbidden" substrings with the empty string. For example: abab−1a−1 concatenated with abab−1a yields abab−1a−1abab−1a, which contains the substring a−1a underlined in the example, and so the “forbidden” string gets cancelled and reduced to abab−1bab−1a, which again contains the substring b−1b underlined in the example, which then gets reduced to abaab−1a. It can be checked that the group formed from the set of those strings with…

Global variables are variables that are visible to every module in the program and its scope is the entire program so that all of the modules within the program can access a global variable. They can be declared in modules by simply setting up an assignment box and adding in the variables to the modules. In Pseudocode, you will simply write out the particular variable you want to declare and its value. Many programmers go against the idea of using global variables in modules but there are a few good sides to using global variables. For one, the global variables are very easy to find within modules and can be accessed throughout all of them. Global variables also make it easier to update…

Today I read LET’S STOP SCARING OURSELVES by Michael Crichton. It is about a man who is taking a look back at his life and the different views that have captivated the country, and even the world, over his lifetime. He talks about the different scares like how power lines caused radiation that would cause cancer, how we would run out of natural resources like oil and gold by 1993, and how the population would be at 14 billion by 2030 which would cause starvation and famine before that. Each of these claims turned out to be nothing soon after they were publicized. Most people feared these things and would take drastic measures to avoid them, only to find out that they didn’t even exist in the first place.…

There are many avenues that the fire service can utilize to reduce the injuries, deaths, cost and risks that fire poses to firefighters and those in the community. Among these numerous avenues that are at the fire service’s disposal, in my opinion, the most effective is the presence of fire suppression systems in homes. With that being said, I’m in support of requiring the installation of fire sprinklers in homes, for while there may be an initial financial hit, there are far more pros than cons; such as reducing injury, death and cost of fires.…

This model provides opportunities for students to collaborate, particularly in the ‘going further’ phase where differentiation of the inquiry is emphasised. Similarly, the 5E teaching and learning model utilizes five stages of learning that incorporate multi-modal text, open investigations, discussions, and questions to not only cater to the students different learning abilities but to develop their understanding. These learning models strongly aligns with the authors teaching philosophy which states “To cater to my student's diverse learning styles and develop the necessary life skills required of our current society, I will base my teaching to incorporate all learning styles; auditory, kinaesthetic and visual” (Shieta,…
