ARSENAL LONDON FC

Introduction

Arsenal Football Club is an English Premier League football club located at North London. It has won 13 First Division and Premier League titles and 10 FA Cups, which makes them one of the successful clubs. Arsenal holds the record for the longest uninterrupted period in the English top flight and is the only side to have completed a Premier League season unbeaten.
Arsenal was founded in 1886 in Woolwich and in 1893 became the first club from the south of England to join the Football League. In 1913, it moved to Arsenal Stadium in Highbury. In the 1930s the club won five League Championship titles and two FA Cups. After the post-war years it won the League and FA Cup Double, in the 1970–71 season, and in the 1990s and first decade of the 21st century won two more Doubles and reached the 2006 UEFA Champions League Final.
Arsenal has a long-standing rivalry with neighbours Tottenham Hotspur, with whom it regularly contests the North London derby. Arsenal is also the third most valuable Association football club in the world, valued at $1.2 billion.

Arsenal Football Club started out as Dial Square in 1886 by workers at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, south-east London, and was renamed Royal Arsenal shortly afterwards. The club was renamed again to Woolwich Arsenal after becoming a limited company in 1893. The club became the first southern member of the Football League in 1893, starting in the Second Division, and won promotion to the First Division in 1904. The club's geographic isolation resulted in lower attendances than other clubs, which led to the club becoming mired in financial problems and effectively bankrupt by 1910, when they were taken over by businessmen Henry Norris and William Hall. Norris sought to move the club elsewhere, and in 1913, Arsenal moved to the new Arsenal Stadium in Highbury, North London. They dropped "Woolwich" from their name the following year. Arsenal only finished in fifth place in

The 1850’s saw drastic changes to most of Britain, the major change being the huge increase in urbanisation which was key to the development of association football. This was because the people of the urbanising areas ended up being in small spaces for the sheer number of people there was. This was only enhanced by the movement of rural-urban migration as people sought both work and a new life in the newly growing towns and cities. In the 1860’s -1880’s the Saturday half day was introduced and by the 1880’s everybody was entitled to the Saturday half day, this meant that people had more free time and usually in the Saturday afternoon football was played or watched in the free time they had. Spectators became a very important part of the development of association football as most of the people who wanted to be involved in football were just spectators due to a lack of space and not enough teams, this meant that as more people watched the football on Saturday afternoons facilities such as small terraces were built around the pitch so spectators could watch. This was the development of the earliest stadium although they were very basic at the time. In the mid 1880’s as the quickly industrialising cities became more organised and planned allocated open space was made available to use and the working class used this open space to recreate. This was the first parks. As football became more popular as there was more free time etc, the playing of matches became more regular and there were many old boys teams set up as well as a few other teams. The FA cup was played in 1872 where for 10 years or so the old school boy teams dominated until 1885 where old eatoninans were beaten by Blackburn Olympic. This was a stepping stone for the game of football to blossom to a working class game.…

The industrial revolution saw mass migration into the main urban, city areas of an area. In order for workers to travel to work and also for factories and mills to deliver their goods transport was developed quickly. This development helped towns and cities grow, and it also helped sport surge in popularity. Teams now had the option, and availability to travel to different towns and play teams from all over the country. In return supporters were also allowed to travel and support their local team or factory team. This meant that more people could see sport and gain interest. This was helpful in encouraging people, which would increase participation levels. The ability to travel quickly and conveniently between towns and cities improved sporting contacts. As teams began to travel and play all over the country, people begin to find that that rules in certain areas were different. This caused much confusion for many of the participants, therefore the next stage in sport was to form untied rules and governing bodies. In 1888 the Football League was inaugurated with 12 founder clubs Accrington, Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Burnley, Derby County, Everton, Nott’s County, Preston North End, Stoke F.C. (renamed Stoke City in 1928),West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers. This…
