I joined the Army Reserve on 01 June 2006. With only a GED and no aspiration to go to college at the time, the Army was a last resort for me. I graduated basic training in August 2006 and AIT October 2006. When I reported to my reserve unit, I attended two drill weekends and decided I wanted to switch to Regular Army.…
I joined the military to get away from the basics. People graduate from high school and then what? They sit around take a break and settle for…

The Pennsylvania Army National Guard is a branch of the United States Army that is mostly used today for homeland security. Although the National Guard is not active like the Reserves or Active Duty Army, they still have the same requirements and same responsibility. More than 22,000 men and women make up the Pennsylvania National Guard and Air National Guard today. They reach from state quarters at Fort Indian Town Gap in Lebanon County to about 100 comunities in the commonwealth. Like all National Guard members they share the same responsibilities. For their federal mission, they are trained and equipped to join the active forces in the time of war or a national emergency. For their state mission, they respond to the orders of the governor, protecting the lives and property of people during man made and natural disasters. Their role extends further than floods, blizzards, and riots, everyday they work to clean up the enviorment, fighting to get rid of drugs and other illegal things on the streets, and they serve as role models to generations to come. With the National Guard today you can earn extra money for college, learn job skills that you can use out of the service, and feel better about yourself by serving your hometown and country.…
Every military installation has traffic safety rules that must be followed by all personnel that are permanent party of the installation or visitors. Even though each installation might have slightly different rules they all generally have the same purpose. The purpose of traffic safety rules in a military installation is to create a safer environment for all personnel on the installation. All these rules come from the installation management command; each military installation has an installation management command although the names may differ for each branch of service. The command was put in place in order to establish and manage all installation rules and other installation matters that deal with personnel.…

Joining the greatest force in the world, the United States Army, is something I would never regret and I am very thankful for. Everyone is the United States of America can say they have freedom but not everyone can say they are the reason an American can say they have…
Duty is a word of importance I my field of profession. It can determine if you save a life or save millions of dollars for the people you work for. Being on time and where you are supposed to be is very important while serving in the army or any other branch of service .The military waste millions of dollars on appointments every year. This Plan of action is ambiguous and confusing. From the oral statements that were made from you I believe you wish for me to write 2000essay (Importance of Accountability in the army) i.e.: appropriate place of duty, proper place and proper time. I Pride myself on being a soldier that is accountable for his actions at all times. The reason for this essay is, I did not follow proper orders and was not at my correct place of duty for work call or medical appointment on time, due to miscommunication through higher, but there is still no excuse for me to be undisciplined and not informing my chain of command to let them know where I had to be . A soldier should be at right place and right time as soldier. There are many reasons why myself and other soldiers to include jr and senior should be at your place of duty at the right time as a soldier. The most important reason being the soldier’s safety and accountability. That’s why it’s implemented by the NCO 's appointed over them. NCO’s tells you that you need to be at a location, on time; therefore you need to be there. Our NCO’s are only trying to help us. NCO’s want what is best for their soldier’s. This shows structure in soldiers in and the soldiers ' unit. As soldiers there are daily missions that call for them to be at the right place and right time. It 's not a good look on a soldier when they can’t do a simple task such right place and right time or making the appointments that have been made to help them better their health and well being as a soldier. This actually shows that the soldier can’t be depended on when they are needed. This hinders a soldier when they are being…
I was forced to conform with the military standards. My first few years was challenging for me because I was used to getting in trouble back in school. I had to adapt to the military life style and change my ways in order to be successful. This was a lot hard to do than you may think. I never receive any paper work in the military but I came close a lot of time. I do believe that if I was in another unit I probably wouldn't made it far in my Air Force career. I have been in over 8 years now and I'm on my way to having a successful career.…
I finally signed the dotted line and ready to be shipped off to Basic combat training and got the MOS of a 94M Radar Repairer. Which I knew nothing about. I still kept on working on losing the weight. And then I got to OTD.... Game changer. Basic was nothing compared to OTD. Then I met SSG Nessen, SSG Hohmann, SSG Leal, and SSG Freeman. I never had to work this hard for something til I got to OTD. Which is what I needed. I got pissed, start punching doors til my knuckles bleed, get in trouble for the most stupidest crap, do details like scrubbing the floors, police call the yard 5 times a day just because ect, ect, ect. Ive learned how to be patient, do BY THE BOOK PT with your fingers straight and arms parallel with the marching surface, palm facing in at all times. Though some days I don't give a…
My grandfather was in the Air Force right after high school. My eldest brother joined the army after the events on September 11th and another brother shortly after. To be I honest I joined the military because I was homeless before I joined. The military was a pipe dream because to me there was no way i was getting out the position I was in. I tried everything but nothing seem to work. I tried college but there was too many obstacles to get in. I tried Job Corp but that isn't the place if you stuck around the things you are trying to get away from, and also I wasn't making enough money to provide for my son. I tried getting a job but getting a job with hardly any experience was extremely difficult. So the military was like my last resort before who knows where I would of ended up. That pipe dream soon became a reality, and it opened plenty of doors for me.…
