Arguments Against Interscholastic Sports
Interscholastic sports within high schools and colleges are frequently debated by athletes and non-athletes. Those in favor of having sports apart of the school’s environment believe that they increase involvement in academic activities, build self-esteem and promotes community support for school programs. In my personal experiences, I have found this true as students can come together and show support for their school’s respective team despite having outside differences. Individuals against interscholastic sports argue the numerous disadvantages that it can have on a student’s academic life. Reasons include that sports can distract students from academic activities, deprive educational programs of resources and give athletes an unfair privilege
