Arguments Against Animal Experimentation
In these animal testing facilities, these animals go through unthinkable torture for our own selfish purposes. From being injected with unsafe chemicals to being locked inside of small cages, what these animals experience in these facilities is completely unethical. Countless undercover surveillance videos have been released depicting horrible scenes of the torture these animals go through on a daily basis. Rabbits, dogs, fruit flies and monkeys are popular animals used in animal testing facilities. The National Institute of Health has recently decided to end its support of chimpanzee testing research. Dr. Collins, a director in the National Institute of Health has spoken on this decision stating that, “We find no evidence that there is a need to continue to do research of an invasive sort on chimpanzees, not now and not going into the future” (2). As what Dr. Collins has stated, there is simply no need to perform such tortuous experimentations on these innocent animals. One of the reasons as to why this decision was made was because the chimpanzee species is becoming extinct according to the federal Endangered Species Act. This is another issue that emerges from animal experimentation, the worry on the diminishing numbers of these animals used on animal experimentation. …show more content…
This process is actually more effective than animal testing because human cells can be used to experiment the effects of these products. It doesn't matter how many animals are killed and tested on because in the ends a human will always be the last subject experimented on. After All, these companies are using these animals to study the effects their products will have on humans so why do they not test on humans or human cells? This method is less torturous and cruel to the animals and would also be much more beneficial for companies and their

Along the years, chimps are the most used animal in world of science apart from other animals such as rabbits, mice and guinea pig for research purpose. In recent years, the general public, lawmakers and scientists have expressed increasing discomfort over the use of chimpanzees in biomedical research. Today it would be considered morally unacceptable to carry out many of the experiments that were done on them in the recent past. Some of the procedures that made chimps suffer are removed or destroyed portions of their brains to test brain function, killed them and removed their organs to be used for human transplants, exposed them to huge doses of radiation, castrated and removed their pituitary glands, followed by hormone analysis and placed electrodes…

In the story “The Plea for the Chimpanzees” by Jane Goodall, Jane writes of a personal experience on her visit to a testing center where they use various primates to test products, one being chimpanzees. She was very upset with what she had seen during her visit. Chimpanzees were being treated horribly during and after being tested. Their living conditions were not what she would have thought them to be. They were quite worse. They had very little a social life with other chimpanzees or even humans. I think if we are going to use chimps to test products or inject them with our major diseases, then the least we can do is give back a little bit of freedom to run and play in a closed, safe environment and offer some compassion and love to these animals who are helping us find cures for the…

How would you feel if you were captured in a laboratory and forced to smell toxic fumes until death? Or immobilized in a restraining device for hours? Or have your skin burned off and spinal cord crushed? This is the reality for more than 100 million animals worldwide. In Canada, over 3.33 million animals are used in experiments and over 125 000 are subjected to severe pain. The animals are left for days to wait in fear of the next terrifying and traumatic experiment that will be performed on them. Major effects of stress and boredom trigger neurotic behaviors in the animals these include spinning in circles, rocking back and forth, pulling out their own hair and biting their own skin. Days go by, and after being locked in their tiny cages filled with fear, their journey usually ends with death. Animals are said to be used for advances and safety checks in products, but are the tests truly…

The amount of chimpanzees used over the past few years in the 5 laboratories on US soil that do testing on animals for cures for diseases is in the hundreds. Imagining the thousands of primates that were experimented on over the past decade can seem appalling. According to why chimpanzees- testing in medicine had to end, we learn that six people died after taking an experimental drug that was found to work when tested on chimpanzees. After this incident organizations had the proof they needed that testing on these animals is not useful. In 2011 John J. Pippin was invited as a cardiologist, medical educator and former animal researcher to argue his point to the institute of medicine committee panel that ultimately determined that the use of chimpanzees is…

“The world does not need another eyeliner, hand soap, food ingredient, drug for erectile dysfunction, or pesticide so badly that it should come at the expense of animals’ lives” (Top five). Animals are being wasted every year by testing them on useless products that are not necessary. In addition, the animals are killed at the end of each test, thus, thousands of animals die with pain. The tests the animals receive are inhumane. “To test rabbits for development of toxicity, a pregnant rabbit is taken and exposed by force feeding, throughout her pregnancy. She is killed on the day she is expected to give birth. Her babies are extracted and evaluated for birth defects” (Cosmetic). These types of testing are morally wrong.…

Every year millions of animals are subjected to horrible unethical experimentations in order to advance medical science. Dogs, cats, monkeys, mice, and other animals are kept in dark rooms in cages while being exposed to various toxic and poisonous substances daily in order to test how the substance may react in humans. These poor creatures suffer from inhumane treatments and are denied any form of happiness, and these experiments should cease and alternatives should be used instead. Animal testing is a cruel and ineffective medical practice that produces unreliable results and those laboratories should use safer alternatives that will provide more accurate results.…

Animal experimentation saves lives and makes vaccines for diseases. But, millions of animals die for experimentation and it doesn’t work every time, even people die because of false information. Animals are important in their habitats and kingdoms. If people take them, then they can't do their jobs. Animal experimentation is not needed for us because of how many animals die for it and how many false procedures there are that also kill people.…

Last year, over 167 million animals died due to animal research. At this rate, the number of animals that will die this year will be well over 200 million. Animals used in these testing facilities are treated in inhumane and disgusting ways. Dogs are forced to eat pesticides, monkeys have their skulls cracked, mice grow tumors larger than their own bodies, bunnies are blinded, the list of cruelties goes on and on. After having these excruciating and terrifying experiments performed on them, they are usually dumped back into a cramped…

Cosmetic tests performed on animals include dropping chemicals in the animal’s eyes. Animal cruelty is when someone hurts an animal or does not care for an animal responsibly. Animal testing is basically that, so, technically, animal testing is animal abuse. Animals should not be experimented on because the testing is somewhat like torture and they are innocent. Although huge developments have been made with animal testing, about 90% of successful animal testing is not successful when used on humans.…

One more reason I am against the use of animals for product testing is because of the cost of it. Animal testing generally costs an enormous amount of money, as the animals must be fed, housed, cared for and treated with drugs or a similar experimental substance. On top of that, animal testing may occur more than once and over the course of months, which means that additional costs are acquired. The price of animals themselves must also be factored into the equation. There are companies who breed animals specifically for testing and animals can be purchased through them.…

Animal testing is a very controversial practice, involving the testing of new substances on animals to see how safe they will be for human use. (Vasen, 2011) Research has uncovered many cures for deathly diseases through animal testing. For over 2000 years cures for diseases such as Herpes, Hepatitis B, Rabies, Malaria, Polio and other such viruses have been created, through the use of testing the chemicals on animals such as mice, rabbits, cats, dogs or monkeys. (Shandilya, 2011) Animal Testing holds much criticism, and gets much scrutiny from anti Animal-Testing groups such as PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and CAAT (Coalition to Abolish Animal Testing). The controversy behind animal testing is that there are so many petitions against animal testing and some people go as far as to not consume products like toothpaste or…

I think that people should stop testing products on animals. If they want to test new products they should test it on humans. Testing these products on animals can kill them. They need to find something else to test products on other than animals. Other people think that's its fine to test products on animals. People shouldn't test these products on animals. I disagree with Animal Experimentation. Millions of these animals suffer and die from this. Testing these products on animals can blind them. Testing these products on animals can affect the population of certain breeds. Why do they test products on animals? They test these products on animals so they don't have to test it on humans, but i think that it would be better if they tested it on humans who volunteered to test these products instead of some innocent animal.…

As Jim Motavalli questions in the article “Rights from Wrongs”, “Does a pig packed in a tiny factory cage waiting to be killed have any rights in America? And what about the chimpanzee, which shares 99% of its active DNA with humans (Motavalli 26)?” Scientists are permanently harming these animals and don’t even mind. Scientists must realize that these chimpanzees and other primates may be close to us in DNA, however we should not be using them in this way that could permanently injure them. “In the U.S. more than 100 million animals are tortured due to animal experimentation practices- classified as any testing that is likely to induce pain or suffering among creatures (Yashiki n.p.).” This pain could not only hurt them physically but also emotionally, no animal is going to want to live after being abused like the way they are in labs. Jen Yashiki claims in her article “Animals Do Not Need to be Harmed for Better Products” that some scientists have been studying ways to use human tissues instead of closely related animals for more accurate tests (Yashiki n.p.). There are better things to solve the animal testing problem then hurting innocent creatures permanently.…
