Someone made the comment “Why don’t we just hand out popsicles to increase turnout.” Meaning, that we are too young and immature to voice our opinions. Some think that 16 year olds lack the maturity needed to cast a meaningful vote. They also think that we are in fact, old enough to drive a car, but not old enough to make an important decision. Someone said that young people are easily swayed by what they hear and see. People feel that we should stick to 26th Amendment, where it establishes 18 as the minimum voting age for both state, and federal elections, and that the voting age should be the least of America’s problems. It is also considered that lowering the voting age is a waste of time, because people think that 16 year olds aren’t concerned with the world around them. Voting age should not be mandatory, but it should be an option given. In a recent debate someone said that kids could become misguided by voting because kids don't realize that they are voting for political parties and it policies, rather than the party leader.
