Newscast-Issues: Sexism Imagine you are a 5th grade girl, preparing for school for an unusually humid day for spring. You decide to dress for the weather and wear shorts, since it would be too hot for pants. You get to school and as you walk through the hall,suddenly you are stopped. A teacher pulls you aside and informs you this, “ What you are wearing is inappropriate and is inconsiderate to the boys and male teachers. ” You are confused, Why would I be distracting and unfair to the boys and male teachers? What’s wrong with what I am wearing?”Now reflect, what was the problem? Was it the girl? No, it was sexism, it happens all the time, especially in dress codes.
