Mars has been a planet in which humans have studied for decades and it contains all aspects of life that we need to survive. NASA has uncovered many discoveries on Mars and it is said that they will be planning a mission to Mars by the mid-2030s. Humans have studied Mars for years to discover if humans can inhabit and live on Mars.
A planet like Mars has to have a oxygen-rich atmosphere, surface, dependable temperature, and water in order for humans to survive. Mars is a planet that's far away from the sun and it is behind Earth. According to the Gale source, Mars is about 141.6 million miles away from the sun, 225 million km away from Earth, and its average temperature is 80 degrees celsius. NASA has discovered that “Using an imaging spectrometer on Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter Planetary, researchers detected signatures of hydrated minerals on slopes where mysterious streaks are seen on Mars… They darken and appear to flow down slopes during warm seasons, and then fade in cooler seasons”( NASA). This proves that there is evidence that liquid(water) is flowing on Mars today. Since the streaks disappear in the cooler season, this indicates that the water evaporates quickly because on Mars the temperatures are mostly freezing. There were many rovers that were launched to Mars and one them was named Curiosity: “Curiosity detected radiation levels that exceed NASA’s career limit for astronauts(Computer world, Sharon Gaudin)”.This implies that engineers from NASA need to build special spacecrafts and space suits that will be able to protect humans from the high levels of radiation when they go to the space mission. Without the curiosity rover we would've never discovered the radiation levels on Mars. An orbiter named “ Mars Global Surveyor” orbiter around Mars. “ NASA’s Mars Global Surveyor orbited the Red Planet for nine years. The orbiter found that Mars once had a magnetic field like Earth’s that shielded it from deadly cosmic rays( NASA, Flint Wild)”.
