Mobile Phones
I do agree that students should be allowed to bring their mobile phones to school. * In a day and age where everyone relies heavily upon modern technology for communication, cell phones are a good thing to have, especially for high school students. * Many students have after-school activities, such as a sport or a club that they participate in after school hours, when most people, including the office staff, have already gone home for the day. The students need a way to contact their parents during and after these activities, and vice versa. * If cell phones were banned from school grounds, even just during school hours, how would the kids contact their parents afterwards? With only one or two phones in the office or on a coach, having thirty or more students per activity coming in to use the phone one after the other is just ridiculous. It would take hours, something that would take minutes overall if the kids each had their own cell phone. * The pay phone costs 50cents now, and a cell phone costs 10cents on a plan or 25cents without a plan. So you save money using your own phone. * If there is a black out you can only use mobile phones. All the other phones die without the power. * Students need privacy when they are talking on the phone. They don't need office secretaries and other waiting students ease dropping on their conversation. * Students can only use the school phone to phone home. Not to make personal phone calls. Which brings us back to reason * If a student is being bullied, trapped/locked somewhere or in something. They can call the schools main office or the police depending on the severity for help. * A mobile phone is not only used for a communications device, its also used for... Storing/Accessing contact information, organizing with it's electronic agenda, taking everlasting photos or videos filled with wonderful memories, playing music when you need that special break, playing games when you need to kill some
