Are we too dependent on computers?

Over the past years computers have become a necessity we use everyday in our lives. Computers have made a big change in humanity because it benefits us in many ways. They are used in many places such as airlines and making reservations, help in school and colleges, banks, medicine, research, help become more organized and more uses. The connection between computers and our lives make us use computers more and more which will make us totally empty without the help of computers. Since computers were invented people have become too dependent on computers. Computers have found their way to every aspect of our lives and also make things a lot easier for us. We can work from our own home sometimes and socialize with our friends with websites on the internet without even going out to the real world. Also computers can be used as a way to relax ourselves when we are stressed out of so many problems that life confronts us. However, it is important to live our life outside of the computers because we can not just be attached to a computer all day. That would be wasting most of your life and when a computer becomes your main priority it can change people in their way of behaving and become very lazy. They will eventually think they cannot work in anything without a computer. For example, kids now a day ask their parents to buy them many stuff to have fun such as games used on computers. They benefit from this because by using computers at an early age can help them in the future. They will be able to get jobs quickly because in the future business will use computers for everything they do and if they get the knowledge of using a computer they will succeed. It also helps them to get good grades at school because computers will encourage them to do their work. Students can save allot of time if they work on their homework through computers and can be saved so that they do not have to search for the information again and again which it will take much longer. Having knowledge in computers can help many people in the future because students can also use computers to study for each subject at school. They can also have the intelligence to have an online tutor and look for information in the internet then type and print their assignments. We students can get as much information as we need as well as other people. Therefore, students can search for information easier and will have fun experience learning. We might get in situations where we have to do assignments for people who are very far from us and can be easily done and sent through a computer. People can communicate and socialize with someone from other country for example a student who lives in a different country can be able to learn about each other’s cultures, how they live and survive, and the differences between them. Teachers use computers to teach better to their students. They can use power points to lecture the class so that students can also see what the teacher is teaching and describing. That way they will have smarter questions while learning further more. With the help of a computer teachers can now teach sitting down and using laser pointers. If students do not understand quite perfectly teachers can just use slides in presentations to explain deeply into the subject. Our everyday lives are made so much easier because we can do most of our transactions from the bank and also doing shopping all in one computer. In addition, computers can be educational and fun. Children can learn computer skills through programs that allow them to draw, paint, play or do whatever they want with their imagination. With the help of computers people are able to receive a higher education. However, it is common that children spend most of their time on unimportant things such as watching television or playing video games and when they are away of the computer for so long they show reactions to it. Behavioral changes and temper problems can be consequences sometimes because when a person is stuck to the computer for so long and go out to take part in another activity they feel the difference and start to feel tired and have a bad effect in their health. They will eventually gain weight for not exercising, tired and dry eyes, headaches and other effects. However, it is not the computers fault but the persons fault for being too dependent on a computer. As our dependence on computer keeps growing, so does our comfort with them and we save personal information such as passwords, e-mail addresses, banking accounts and other stuff we do not want to forget. However, we have an issue for safety which is because of stolen information when other people or programs hack your computer and get all your information. It would be a big problem trying to retrieve all your saved information when the people might have changed data. After all these years computers have been updating constantly and it will always find a way to make our lives easier. In business, computers have affected us by improving the health of the sick and bringing new medicine to cure diseases quicker. Computers such as healing machines can cure people faster than it would take when doctors had to cure people manually. People must know all the benefits it brings to our daily life. Depending on a computer can have both positive and negatives. Computers are being used in whatever you see today. Positives are that it can help us reserve tickets from our home instead of waiting outside for hours or days in the hot or cold weather to buy the ticket. It also contains negatives because it reduces our energy and makes us very lazy and can screw our health too. Computers must be used because yes it helps us allot but we have to limit ourselves. Also there are cars that use GPS or the monitor to show how much gas is left, select music and more all in one functioning computer. Machines can be controlled by a computer from far away such as an airplane or a train to prevent a collision. If there is no driver to control the vehicles then we have a less chance of crashing because trains will be already programmed by a computer to follow a certain route. Children play computers such as PS3 or Xbox and with these video games they will have an experience in computers and will be able to understand about computers and technology when they grow up. Computers like PC’s and Mac are used in every school and work offices. On the other hand, computers have been used to create destruction by guns, war machines and nuclear bombs that can kill humanity. We can depend on a computer for certain things, necessary things. We can use the power of humans to create buildings and fix things we cannot fix ourselves and use computers. It is good to depend on computers but it has its advantages and disadvantages. So, do we depend too much in computers? I will answer with a yes because we use computers everywhere we go in our jobs, public places, education, and entertainment. Even if we can’t notice it our lives our affected by computers.
