Are People Born Evil Research Paper
Are people born evil, or is their behavior evil? People themselves are not born evil, but the wicked choices that one makes is what makes them evil. Veil behavior is what makes a person evil. Everyone is born innocent. Every single human being was born innocent, not knowing right from wrong. Throughout our lifetime, our influences and surroundings have molded us into who we are today. Different situations, different lifestyles, different circumstances, and different environments have molded each individual in their own unique way. Everyone has been influenced by someone or something, and based on that is how and why we decide to make the choices that we do. Also, other people influence us to do, say, and feel things towards others. Whatever …show more content…
Wicked, bad, wrong, immoral, sinful, foul, vile, dishonorable, corrupt, vicious, and malicious are synonyms for evil. Evil is basically anything that is not morally beneficial to you or others. For me, the best synonym for an evil person is wicked because it summarizes how a person is described. Wicked; morally wrong. There are many things that a person can do to be considered evil. The basic stealing, raping, killing, lying, and swearing are morally wrong. Consciously making the choice to sin and cause someone harm, is what defines an evil person. Vile behavior is what makes one evil. Many wonder if humans have a nature for being evil, or is it all at fault on the way we were raised? “Let us then suppose to mind to be, as we say, white paper, void of all characters without any ideas” (John Locke) It is not natural to be evil, the environment is what molds our minds. The way we are raised and the choices that are applauded upon, is influential. For example, racism. No one is born racist, however the influences on being inferior or superior to another race is what shapes a person to be racist. We are all innocent, until we make choices that are morally wrong. Evil behavior makes us evil. People are not born evil, no one is born evil. The surroundings and circumstances that a person lives through, is influential to the choices that they make. Choices mold behavior. The bad choices that a person makes, shapes

With proof from the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding I can say a person’s environment factors into their overall attitude, people naturally have evil thoughts, but will rules around them they are good. At the beginning of the book on page 38 Ralph says “Shut up! What! Listen!”. From the start of the look Ralph has felt power and the slight change of letting go of rules and becoming his natural evil controlling self. Ralph wants to keep order and the only way to keep order is with rules. Rules are what separate a person from doing whatever they want and being a bad person with doing good. From a more easily transitioned to showing evil we see on page 40 “His voice rose to a shriek of terror as jack snatched his glasses off his face.” Jack has no rules therefore he does whatever he wants and acts evil. If he was naturally good he would have felt some slight guilt for taking glasses from someone who can’t see without them. Essentially humans show their true nature given the opportunity that was given in Lord of The flies.…

From reading my book The Fate of Ten by Pittacus Lore I think I know a little bit more about the answer to the question of how people become evil. “I’m shocked by how normal he seems, a young guy sitting on the beach, staring glumly at a girl he likes. Where did it all go so wrong?” At this part in my book it is having a flashback to a scene from the villain's past. At this moment he seems so normal that it is odd how sinister he became. The book is questioning how people become evil too.…

I believe that people are born neither inherently good nor evil, but are created as blank slates to be constructed by childhood impressions and other life experiences. In my opinion, the concepts of good and bad are impossible to be natural instinct. Rather, these ideas are mainly formed by the guidance and direction from one’s parents, and also by observation of the environment, and how others handle specific interactions.…

Evil people do evil things: that statement seems simple enough. However, the motives behind evil acts tend to be more complex than that simplistic thought. Although some may believe that any dishonesty is evil, people are not inherently evil, and acts that may be considered evil are not deliberate. More likely, they occur because of the denial of private responsibility through the pursuit of self-gain.…

Evil can be used in two ways- when someone has done evil and when someone has suffered evil. Since God is good, God does no moral evil; however, because God is just, God punishes the wicked and thus causes the evil of punishment. People are the cause of their own evildoing. Furthermore, because learning is good a thing, we do not learn evil. It is people’s inordinate desires that drive their evildoings.…

In conclusion, in the case of nature vs. nurture, nurture is what makes humans do evil things. From boys living alone, trying to survive on an island, to grown men thrown into a psychological experiment, their environment is what causes their sadistic/evil behavior. Although it is true that people make the wrong decisions in life, it does not mean that they were born with a desire to do…

Whether we want to believe it or not there is evil in all of us. The mind thinks and controls our bodies in ways that we would never think possible until it happens. We laugh at racist jokes, gossip about others actions, cheat on tests, and on the larger note murder and rape other human beings. People think that a racist joke is harmless but what they do not realize is that that one joke could escalate to become dehumanizing a certain group of people. Whether it is on a small scale or a larger one, evil is still evil. I’ve learned on the journey I took through The Lucifer Effect that I do things because other people want me to do them and I want to be accepted by other people.…

“Evil” – defined by Dictionary.com as “morally wrong or bad; immoral; harmful; characterized by misfortune or suffering” (“Evil”) – is a very complicated topic few people can fully agree on. The view on whether people are born evil or are raised to be evil is highly subjective. What some people consider to be evil, others might believe to be valiant. Although researchers have been exploring many different viewpoints to find the correct answer to this controversy, their results insinuate that evil is found in the eye of the beholder. However, with some of the world’s greatest reprobates nominated for Nobel Peace Prizes and others been given the key to a city, it can be derived that a person develops evil impulses…

Things people experience – life changing events – change how a person acts. No one is born with evil already within them. Children are incapable of understanding evil at a young age, for the longest they have no concept of good verse evil. They don’t know of evil until it is introduced to the through; suppression, criticism, chaos, profanity, violence, etc. They can do bad things, but it doesn’t make the evil. Evil, in my own connotation, is something that causes your mind to do the unthinkable without feeling remorse. Coloring on the wall is nothing like Hitler trying massacre a whole society of people. Children are not vicious unless someone is cruel to them first!…

Is Man inherently good or evil? This is a question that many philosophers, psychologists, and scientists have questioned for centuries. We have learned from Webster that good is morally excellent, virtuous, and pious. He also states that evil is the total opposite. Evil is morally wrong or bad and immorally wicked. I believe that man is inherently evil simply because when a baby is born the nature of evil is already in existence. This only indicates that humans don’t have to be taught to do wrong. (As human beings we have the most extraordinary capacity for evil, but we as a people also have an…

However, many researchers believe that we are born evil. According to the Christian concept of the original sin, all people are born sinful. The original sin is “an Augustine Christian doctrine that says that everyone is born sinful” (Original sin, 2009). Some Christians think that all mankind is born with a built-in desire to do bad things. They believe that people are born with an internal motivation to disobey God, and they refer this to the disobedience of Adam and Eve’s story to God (2009). The Christian clergy believe that the original sin is not one’s fault. It is the human being’s ordinary psychological condition that even a newborn baby is damaged by (2009). The Christian doctrine also justifies all the errors and faults in the world by having this original sin. It believes that having this evil inside the human soul is considered to be an inherited spiritual disease and imbalance in the human nature, and that is why, it will be regarded as condemnation if people go with this fault. According to the Christianity, people should work hard to purify themselves from this evil until they reach the heaven at the very end (2009). What is more, people who think that we are born evil have also biological evidence. According to a study made by a neuroscientist at McGill University called Daniel Lametti in 2002, it has been shown that people are born evil…

Everyone is evil. No matter what, people will have evil in them. But on the contrary, everyone has good in them. I don’t care if someone is a serial killer, they have something good and bright in them. Now the amounts of either of those may be different in every person, but they are inside everybody. Good vs Evil. It is everywhere. They are obviously different, but they’re also the same. Good vs Evil is all around us. Sports and movies are some examples. There is a good side and a bad side, every single time. There is good in Jack for example, a basically evil character. There is evil in Ralph, the poster boy of a leader. But it works the other way around too, good and evil are inside every human being. But evil changes much more over time,…

We must accept that there is good and evil. In our life time we all have seen good people make bad decisions. Every human is capable of wrongdoing and at times committing evil acts. How we grew up during our childhood and the experiences at a young age can make us more susceptible to committing bad deeds. If we look in history Adolf Hitler was physically and mentally abused during his childhood (Merkin, 2002).…

On the other hand, people say that humans are inherently good. Their point of views makes sense because young people, before they are corrupted by society, are called “naïve,” or “unrealistic,” when they are trying to see the good in the world or in our race ("Are Human Beings Inherently Evil?" Debate.org. N.p., n.d.). However, they would have no one to be corrupt by if mankind were not evil in the first place. Not only that, but boys who had been raised in good environments turned to evil the second that they were left alone. Therefore, humans are inherently…
