Are Human Workers Doomed To Be Completely Replaced By Robots?
Are human workers doomed to be completely replaced by robots ?

Robots are fascinating. Everyone agrees to say that artificial intelligence and robotics are one of man’s greatest achievements in science during the last century. However, as their abilities increase this creation of man might make him useless. That is indeed a burning question that we are going to analyze : are robots going to take our place at work ? This might seem almost ridiculous because even nowadays robots look very limited, but they are making huge progresses and can already do many things much better than man. So what if we should be threatened by this possibility ?
We will first see that the robots expansion has already begun and that it concerns an increasing number

More and more of them are currently used for utilitarian tasks, for they provide the same capacities as humans for lower costs. For instance, many people own a cleaning robot which moves on his own and aspires dust on his way. So why would people still have a cleaning lady they need to pay every week whereas they could have a robot that requires no money after they have bought it ?
The same logic applies for many other things nowadays, for which robots of all kind and various use seem to be a good alternative to human beings.
This raises issues about the necessity of employing human beings for some jobs, and we will now see that sadly everyone should be worried. In other words, robots could in a near future be present in the majority of fields of competence where people are still working nowadays.

A more and more concerning

But these thing have changed, research in artificial intelligence has improved and so did the robots skills. Ironically, our progress and scientific knowledges will eventually cause our obsolescence. Robots become more performant and achieve things we had sworn they wouldn’t ever do. No one is impressed by a robot playing a piano partition, as it is nothing more to him than technical execution of a program. But a robot that creates music, who would have foreseen this ? And yet it is done : robots also invest the field of art which is no longer a characteristic of human beings ! Such qualities as emotion and imagination can apparently be simulated even if it remains for the robot a giant algorithm and a database of musical phrases combined to form a melody. And indeed, tests proved that listeners couldn’t tell the difference between that and a melody composed by a human.
An other striking example is the self driven cars, already in place in several highways in the United States. It might soon also be the case in towns although the situation is way more complicated to treat because of people crossing the streets anywhere, traffic lights and a lot of other information. As for any other field invaded by robots, it is full of advantages

In this day and age, new technology is everywhere, but it’s usually in the form of phones, computers, and, now, watches. However, we’re forgetting one, robots. Now, they’re still quite popular, but they’re mostly the ideals of science fiction worlds set so far into the future we’ve migrated to space. Is it really so farfetched of an idea, though, to think that maybe we could achieve that level? No, in fact and despite the spotlight being diverted away, we’re heading down the path to robo-world already. What a robot is and has been is quite a lenient description, but no one can deny how much they’ve already shaped our lives. According to the passage “Robots Long Ago” by Karen Brinkmann, “Today robots help people with everything from surgery…

Technology is a wonderful thing. With so many technological advances happening in the world every day, it’s hard to imagine life before it all came along. For many older generations though, they can remember a time when humans were doing most of what artificial intelligence is doing now. In today’s world, just trying to actually talk to a human over the phone when calling places of businesses can be an eye opening experience into a world consumed with Technology. Artificial intelligence is becoming more advanced and able to perform multiple capabilities, so one cannot deny that at some point in the future human jobs may have a smaller role in the manufacturing industry.…

In addition, a famous fiction movie called “EX Machina” tells a terrifying story that a scientist is killed by a human-like robot produced by himself, while his original intention to design such a machine is just simply assisting him with housework. When the robots have more mature artificial intelligent which is exactly what people desire, it is rational to assume that they can acquire the incentive to offend, even hurt their masters just like what people do to each other. Although it is a science-fiction movie, the thoughts behind its story definitely deserve the public careful concern. The dangerous and limitation of robots are still available so that we should use them as prudently as…

It will only be a matter of time before 70% of our workforce is replaced by robots. Robots are already replacing assembly line workers in factories. They lift 150 pound crates, package merchandise, build products 24 hours a day without getting tired. Companies save money by using robots; what companies used to pay humans to do robots can do faster, cheaper and more efficient. White collar workers jobs are not safe from robotics either because robotics have already infiltrated those…

The final benefit of technology would be in the workplace. Robots are becoming more and more popular among jobs today. Robots used to be caged off because of the dangers they posed. However, Eisenberg (2013) contradicts this by stating that calmer industrial machines, created to work and play with people, are coming out from behind their shielding barriers to work shoulder-to-shoulder with humans (“Freed from its Cage”). What once used to be a feared machine is now a friendly robot who is working among people and helping to make jobs more efficient and less…
