Arcmop Case Study
In the second month of my co-op term, I was given an assignment to create map, using a program called ArcMap, showing the number of fatal fires that occurred in several municipalities in Ontario. My company didn’t have any shape files for the municipalities so I went ahead and started drawing each municipality. I spent the next two days drawing the municipalities which was difficult and time consuming, so I went to my supervisor and asked her if there was an easier way to create the municipalities. She told me that a shape file for all the municipalities in Ontario already existed and could be downloaded from a government website. I downloaded the shape file and added the municipalities to my map which allowed me to quickly the finish the map.
