The experiment was carried out to determine whether Acheta domestica has a preference in the amount of light intensity it receives to determine if lux values has any effect on its times of activities during the day. The hypotheses were as followed: Ho: Light intensity plays no role in the Acheta domesticus’ choice of habitat. Ha: Light intensity plays a role in the Acheta domesticus’ choice of habitat. The statistics used to analyze our data was the chi -squared test, since we had discrete data.
The experiment was carried out as a choice experiment between three different light intensity values. The three choices were the light intensities provided by cheesecloth, black and transparent covers. The lux value under the black was measured to be the lowest (37 lux), followed by the cheesecloth (90 lux) and then the highest value was under the transparent cover (115 lux). The experiment was carried out by placing the organism in a circular glass bowl that was surrounded by black filmy paper and then placing the light intensity divider on top of the bowl; refer to figure 1 for illustration of setup. The organism was then given three minutes to roam around and make a selection. The choices were randomized by the fact that there were three simultaneous treatments occurring at once, so each starting point choice for a treatment was randomly different from the others and the direction the organisms faced when placed was randomized by the way it dropped into the container. The response of the organism was measured by its position once the three minutes were up, however if the organisms was still in motion when the time period was up the response was then measured as no choice.

There were two trials conducted in total, each with 24 replicates and each with three treatments happening simultaneously. The second trial was modified by replacing the black filmy paper surrounding the bowl by aluminum foil and then adding rectangular

    We created a small reservoir for this experiment to take place using petri dishes. We used brown paper as a dark side of a petri dish and a whit sheet for the light side. We placed the planarians in the middle of the white petri dish for our trials. in the end of the experiment we found out that more planarians went to the dark side instead of remaining in the white side. From the research I have done on platyhelminthes I concluded that the results came to be by natural selection, and how organisms camouflage themselves to hide from predators by blending in with there surroundings. This idea is supported in the observations I made because since the planarians were darkly colored they moved to a spot with more dark colors instead of being in a place with no color(the white side) and being very visible. My hypothesis, If the Planaria are placed on the white side then they will move to the dark side, was supported in this experiment. it was supported because the majority of planaria moved to the dark side instead of staying in the white side.     The rate of photosynthesis is affected by environmental factors like light intensity, light wavelength, and temperature. This experiment will test the effect of light intensity on the rate of photosynthesis in a plant called Elodea. Elodea is an easy plant to use for this experiment because it is cheap, abundant, and easy to take care of. This photosynthetic organism needs to be kept in an aerated freshwater tank. To do this experiment, put the Elodea in a beaker of freshwater.
