The Dust Bowl was much more than an abnormal weather occurrence of wind and rain; It was actually the lack of rain. In ways farmers were hit the hardest because they lost all of their crops and everything on their farms. The Dust Bowl caused a bunch of problems in many different small towns and farms. Some families had to decide whether to move on away from their homes caused by the Dust Bowl or to stay and try to revive everything they had. There was nothing left in their towns, but to some families there was still something there like all the memories. Some moved into different towns to find work and support themselves, but most stayed. The home is where the heart is. These are some of the many things that happened during the Dust Bowl, but what caused the Dust Bowl? The ecological economic phenomenon known as the Dust Bowl that occurred in the 1930’s on the southern plains of the U.S., devastated the wheat farmers and their families and was caused by human migration, weather patterns, and farming practices.…

As we know, the end of life experience is universal, the attitude and behaviors or the way we express grief are very culturally bounded. Death and grief become a normal part of life event and all cultures have developed ways to cope with death and dying. I interview one of my close friend Amira Bashir regarding to her culture and perspective of death and dying. She was a Somali woman and a very religious person. She also experienced death and dying in her family. Shel lost her dad and grandmother. She was a Somali who follows the practice associated with Islam as well as her family. In addition, I would like to talk about how my friend Amira experiences or perspective regarding to death and dying, how the grieving and mourning relate to beliefs about the meaning of life and death; I will talk about her community perspectives on euthanasia or technology to prolong lives, living wills, and finally, compare her cultural aspect of death and dying to my culture or religion.…

A brief summary of all the archaeological works done on the site is necessary before going deeper into the actual work. Amarna was first discovered by the French Jesuit, Father Claude Sicard in 1714. He was the first to describe one of the stelae that delimited the boundary of the city. The first map of Amarna was established by geographers during Napoléon Bonaparte's expedition in Egypt in 1798-1799.1 The ruins of the city were later explored by Sir John Gardner Wilkinson in the 1820s and an another map of the city was made.2 In 1833, a British copyist, Robert Hay, explored some of the South tombs and reproduced reliefs and engravings found in them. The next expedition aimed, once again, at establishing Amarna's topography. Between 1843 and 1845, a German…

Every civilization since the first Mesopotamia has believed in something greater than humans. This ‘greater’ was developed into gods and goddesses. These gods and goddesses were then given special attributes and abilities. One of the many Mesopotamian deities was Inanna a female deity that is probably still one of the most well-known of this pantheon. This brief essay will take a look at the goddess discussing whom this important goddess was to her people.…

Romeo and Juliet is a very famous play written by William Shakespeare. It is a tragic story about two star crossed lovers as they try to find a place in the world together without dealing with the rivalry between their families. A lot of movies have been made to re-enact this play. Out of all the re-enactments, two movies will be the focus. Both the movies have taken an entirely different approach of the play. The movie by Franco Zeffirelli is more classic and traditional, whereas Baz Luhrmann's movie is much more modern. Shakespeare intended something's from every scene in this play. When both the movies are compared Franco Zeffirelli's version interoperates Act 1, Scene 5 better, as it efficiently communicates the intentions of Shakespeare of love at first sight, engaging the audience's interest and showcase of caution by the lovers.…

Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of working with Brady Sark, from chaperoning during Marching Band season to assisting him during the Indoor Percussion Ensemble competition season. And to say the least, there have been some memorable moments. Such as a few years ago in February, we endured two hours to and from Toledo on a bus with no heat. On another trip to Toledo, we witnessed Brady make an emergency purchase of a speaker, because ours had been borrowed and locked away by the Ticket to Broadway cast. Another time was at a North Royalton performance in January with heavy snowfall, the front ensemble equipment had to be pushed through unshoveled sidewalks just to get into the performance gymnasium. Then for the first performance this year for Indoor Percussion, finding out that everything we needed wouldn't fit into the equipment truck. Although, I have to say the best one was, in Wapakoneta for State Indoor Percussion competition, Brady insisted that we take the bus all the way across town for lunch at the Waffle House, just because Brady likes, Waffle House. By the way, did you know there are 47 other eating establishments in Wapakoneta to choose from? Some closer to the school? And after all of that, I find out from Brady that I am the Percussion Ensemble Representative, not the Drumline Representative. Oh well, how do you expect someone who was a brass player to understand that concept?…

The story, set in the year 2154, involves a mission by U. S. Armed Forces to an earth-sized moon in orbit around a massive star. This new world, Pandora, is a rich source of a mineral Earth desperately needs. Pandora represents not even a remote threat to Earth, but we nevertheless send in ex-military mercenaries to attack and conquer them. Gung-ho warriors employ machine guns and pilot armored hover ships on bombing runs. I think we are likely to find this an allegory about contemporary politics.…
