ENVIRONMENT AND
SCIENCE
Environmental science is the science of the interactions between the physical, chemical, and biological components of the environment, including their effects on all types of organisms but more often refers to human impact on the environment.

Goal(s) of Environmental Science
• The primary goal of the Environmental Science program is to provide exposure to and a broad knowledge of environmental problems and issues using an interdisciplinary approach. This is achieved by completion of core courses and additional courses taken with
• Specialization in one of three emphasis tracks.
The core curriculum spans six departments and three colleges and tracks are housed in the
Department of Biology, Department of
Geography, and Department of Chemistry.

National Environmental Education
Action Plan (NEEAP)
• The plan aims to educate the citizenry in matters regarding the environment and sustainable development.
It proposes institutional changes to promote educational programs, the addition of an environmental focus in elementary and high school curricula and in tertiary education programs and promoting environmental sensitivity in non-formal educational arenas. The executive branch sponsored the publication and dissemination of poster calendar(s) on climate change and global warming, the organization and conduct of symposia, focus group consultation and workshops, and the conduct of exhibits on climate change. The Senate committee has also cosponsored national and Asia
Pacific-wide conferences to promote awareness.
