The different Components that are used in Textiles
The Components:
• Buttons
• Zips
• Beads
• Sequins
• Press Studs
• Interfacing

What is there use?
Buttons – are used either as a fastening on a jumper, coat etc but they are also used as decorations.
Zips – are used as fastenings on clothing garments.
Beads – are used as decorations and are generally used on bracelets and necklaces.
Sequins – are used as decorations as like beads too.
Press Studs – are used as fastenings on usually smaller items of clothing like cardigans.
Interfacing – is used to strengthen clothing i.e. shirt collars.

Safety Features:
Buttons – They are safe to use on most clothing garments and they are suitable to use to use on young children’s clothing too because they are durable and strong.
Zips – They are safe all around because they are nearly impossible to break and little children can’t swallow them.
Sequins – They are not very safe to use on babies and younger children’s clothing because they could pull the sequins off and swallow or choke on them.
Press Studs – They are suitable to use on all clothing most of the time, but when it is on young children’s clothing you have to make sure that they are sewn on securely.

Why are some more suitable than others?
Buttons are more suitable to put on knitted garments because they look more professional and knitted garment are a looser composition in its makeup.
However sequins are more suitable to use as decoration rather than press studs this is because you can’t really use a fastening component as decoration.
Same with a zip it is more suitable to use on a coat than a press stud because it is stronger than press
