Apples Versus Oranges
Apples vs. Oranges
Although apples and oranges are both fruits, they each have many similarities and differences. Some differences are the where they’re grown, color, tastes, appearance and many others. The ways that they are similar are that they have the same shape, grown on trees, both are fruits and have juice.
The exact definition of an apple is the” fleshy usually rounded red, yellow, or green edible pome fruit of a usually cultivated tree (genus Malus) of the rose family”. The most common color of an apple is usually red but they also come in various colors too. Apples are usually grown on large orchards in moderate climates in New England. Apples are cover in a thick edible skin made up of a core and seeds. Apples have a sweet delicious taste that allows many people to make many dessert.
An orange’s definition is a” globose berry with a yellowish to reddish-orange rind and a sweet edible pulp”. The color of oranges is orange. Oranges are grown in subtropical climates commonly in Florida. Oranges are covered in a thick peel made up of sections on the inside. While an apples skin is edible an oranges peel isn’t. Oranges have navels instead of stems and have a citrus taste to them. They can be squeezed to make orange juice while apples can’t. The major similarity is that they are both fruits. They are round and edible. You can drink juice from each fruit but they are made differently. The seeds in the fruits both need sun to grow. The fruits are also grown on trees too. Both apples and oranges have health benefits. Oranges contain vitamin C which has been known to help people recover from the common cold. It has been said for many years that “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”. These two fruits are enjoyed by many people daily. While I personally prefer apples because of the delicious sweet
