What purpose does Anzac day behold for New Zealanders?

What is Anzac day?
An annual commemoration is held on April 25th in respect and honour of those who were killed on the battlefields fighting and serving for New Zealand. The date is a mark, symbolizing the day, the Anzac’s made their landing on the Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915. ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, a name the forces took much pride upon. Anzac is the anniversary of when the first military action was taken by the forces of New Zealand and Australia during World War I. This tradition remains to this day in remembrance of the dearly loved ones lost at war.

How is Anzac day celebrated?
Anzac day is celebrated on April 25th at dawn, followed by another service

    The First Fleet is nothing to celebrate about. January 26, 1788 was the last day Indigenous Australians were the sole custodians of their land. White settlers overrode the land they had been protecting for over 60,000 years. For Indigenous Australians, Australia Day is not a time of celebration, but a time of lamentation and mourning. Every year when Australia Day is celebrated on January 26, only reminds Indigenous Australians of when the invasion happened.
