As you watch the movie note specific examples of expressions of either collectivist principles or individualist principles.
/4
Collectivism
Individualism
1. When Z is trying his best to encourage himself and telling Asteca that he is insignificant, thats when she tells him that he doesn't need to worry about being important as it is not about him, it is all about their team and community.
1. The introduction when Z was telling us about how the head of their society decided what a baby is going to be after growing up, without even thinking about what the kid might want to do according to his skills.
2. In his speech to the soldiers, General Mandable said, “A soldier knows that the life of an individual ant doesn't really matter, what matters is the colony. He is willing to live for the colony, to fight for the colony and to die for the colony.”
2. When princess Bala questions her mother why is she the one who is supposed to marry the general and she also talks about what if she doesn't like her place. Here she bravely showed her individual perspective.
3. General Mandable tells the colony that Z is not the hero, the ants working in the colony are the hero's as they are the ones insuring the future of their colony. And after they are done with their work they are the ones who will reap the benefits. This is all because they are a huge contributors in the development of their group.
3. Z asks Weaver about how he tolerates to stand like an idiot when a bunch of highly positioned men smirk at him, this shows that Z doesn't like to be under someone.
4. During the so called opening ceremony of the mega tunnel the General says, “Today is the realization of a dream, a dream of a proud colony, a pure colony, a colony reborn, after this tunnel is opened the past will wash away and a new day will be dawn.”
4. The guy at the bar telling Z about how insectopia is a better place, no one tells you what to do, you can be your own ant their, there is no colony you have to work for, is an example of Individualism.
5The way all the ants makes a ladder and help others get out of the tunnel more over the courage weaver had to support the ladder ad well as the trust he had in Z is an incredible example of collectivism.
5. When Z and Bala are by the lake she tells him that all he thinks about is himself. At this point Z strongly told her that nobody else ever cared about him and so he doesn't need anyone.
6. The boldness and ability Cutter had to speak up against the general and the way he helped Z and others climb up was a great support to their community.
6. While dying at the battle field, Barbetus tells Z That he should not make the same mistake as he himself did, tells him not to follow orders for his entire life and he should think for himself.

3. General Mandable is a mean guy who wants destroy the entire society and wants to become the king of the new society. 4. Weaver is the one who trusts Z in his goal and does his best to help him accomplish it.

What is the message the movie is trying to convey to the viewer? Provide Examples.
Ans. The movie Is trying to tell the viewer that blindly believing in someone and living according to some on else's will, can not always be beneficial for everyone and that people should think about how better their life can get. For example the ants trusted the Queen and the Queen trusted on the General who in return of the position he got betrayed each and everyone of them, he even betrayed the Queen who gave him the opportunity to be such a big part of their colony. The other ants believed that they are only supposed to work in the field that they are assigned in when they are born, but they should have thought what do each of them really like to do, and how they can best contribute to the betterment of their colony.

/2 What does Insectopia signify to Z? What do you believe Insectopia represents in terms of political theory?
Ans. For Z, Insectopia is a like a dreamland, a place where he can have a whole new experience, where he can get to discover new things, find a true passion for himself, learn to live on his own, do what he wants, And most of all be happy with his life. In terms of political theory, Insectopia represents freedom as it had no rules, mandatory hard work and was totally opposite of what the ant hill was.

General Mandable was giving orders to find Z and kill him. His response to the soldiers query, “Now you see how dangerous individualism can be; it makes us vulnerable.” What message is being reinforced by the general?
Ans. By this statement, General Mandable is trying to show the members of their colony How bad individualism is and how it affects the views and principles of older civilizations . By his orders of killing Z he is trying to aware their society that anyone who tries to go against him or the laws is going to be wiped out of the world and also from the memories of their colony.

What demographic is the movie being marketed toward? Considering this what are the implications of the answer you provided in the previous question?

Finally, to what extent is the movie ANTZ a fair comparison and contrast of the principles of collectivism and individualism?

Individualism is something that has been present in every community around the world. The idea of individualism helps our societies function properly. If everyone was the same, and if uniqueness was not present, civilizations would begin to crumble. In Fahrenheit 451, society has been controlled so everyone’s identity is the same. A theme that can be found in the novel, Fahrenheit 451, is that society shapes and affects the individuality of many people, which can be seen through Mildred’s selfishness, Faber’s cowardice, and Captain Beatty’s unawareness towards the world around him.…

The first specific concept that I have chosen to discuss is the Sociocultural Context concept. The Sociocultural Context is based on a child’s environment which, when combined, can impact the development of a child, this includes the environmental, physical, cultural, social, and historical aspects of a child’s life (Siegler et al., 2014, pp. 17). This concept applies to the film because of the fact that the individuals in the film had completely diverse environments when they were children that impacted each individual differently. A prime example is the individual, Symon.…

In the beginning of the film, it started with the ant colony getting and placing all food in a single place. They are preoccupied by traditional agricultural labor, an illustration of an economy needing workers to do the labor because there is scarcity of resources so they need to maintain the amount of food for the colony. This is a depiction of a farmer living on a farm and must harvest his crops to have production and resources for his living and for the market too. There is the presence of labor and employment because ants do the work depending on their rank. There is the queen ant that oversee the production and ordinary or worker ants who finds and collect food for the colony. The economy on the film is also demonstrated with the use of simple technologies. One ant in the film invented better technology for collecting crops such as his grain-collecting device created to speed up collection of grain. This shows the need for better technology of the ant colony to increase the supply of production and collection within the ant colony.…

American History X (1998) illustrates how segregation is aggravated by missing father figures as well as the herd mentality of the characters in the film. German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche 's concept of the herd mentality states that people need a concept or a worldview to adopt in order to give meaning to their lives. This herding of people who choose to adopt this certain ideal or ideals in effect causes the stifling of individual thoughts or creativity because everyone chooses to think a certain way (Floyd). This mindset that people are attracted to is not always chosen or forced but is rather seen as an obligation because of loyalties certain people have to others.…

Worker ants come in many sizes, called minor, median, and major workers. The larger ants are called ‘soldier ants because their large head causes them to have stronger mandibles, which makes them more effective in ‘duties’ such as collecting supplies. The first workers to hatch are weak and smaller than later workers, but they begin serving their colony immediately. Their job involves enlarging the nest, forage for food and care for the other eggs. The worker ants do not breed, so their jobs are to look for food, protect the…

The district commissioner (who narrates the radio adaptation in the first person) describes the threat Leiningen faces: "Ten miles long, two miles wide—ants, nothing but ants!” Additionally, each ant is approximately the size of a man's thumb and wants to consume any form of life that falls in its path. (If this description is accurate, it means there are roughly 64 billion ants in the swarm; the entire human population at the time was less than 2 billion.) It is also mentioned that they can completely pick the flesh from a stag in six minutes.…

When observing ants it is easy to see some of the special characteristics, or 'powers' they have. Ants are very industrious. There are ants that are solitary but most are part of a large community. Within the community there is a wide variety of activities and behaviours, with each ant knowing its place and fulfilling its duties with total loyalty to the whole. Each ant does his bit to ensure the survival of the whole community, no matter what role it has in society. Activities include gathering and hunting. They work hard, are patient and co-operative. An ant is able to carry a leaf, a crumb or a dead ant for miles - just to get back home to the anthill, requiring a load of stamina and patience. If an ant has to fight, it will, if an ant has to dig tunnels, it will, and if an ant has to carry leaves for miles, it will, all for the good of the community. As well as being extremely hard working they possess an extraordinary ability to work as a team - the power of their medicine - to build their homes, to feed and protect all members of their colony. There may be a social order in ant colonies, but all ants honour and respect each other and work toward their common goal - the good of the community. Worker ants are great architects and can show us how to construct our dreams into reality. They are also very persistent and can teach this skill as well. Queen ants have wings and are able to fly until they fall pregnant. Once pregnant they tear of their own wings sacrificing the ability to fly for the birth of a newborn.…
