Antigone Comparison
Sophocles, an ancient Greek playwright, is the author of the prominent play named Antigone; the third of the trilogy. Even though one would usually think that ancient Greek theater is dull, one can learn a lot about themselves while reading them. While reading this story myself, I found that I correlate to the main character herself, Antigone. The character intrigued me; for we think and speak similarly. After finding this, I kept discovering more and more connections between the two of us. Separating into three different categories, Antigone and I are similar by Appearance and Surroundings, Personality, and Relationships with Others.
This character and I share some similarities according to our appearance and what surrounds us. Antigone is often portrayed as having brown hair and blue eyes. In the days of the ancient Greeks, it was found that the recurrent body type among women was the curvier look. One of the main settings of the play is inside Creon's home, which is depicted as a very dark, dreary place. With me, I also have brown hair and blue eyes; as well as the more curvy body type. Antigone is seen as a strong, valiant woman. People seem to go to her when they are in need of help, and always does what the character believes is right. For example, Antigone herself says "I am only doing what I must."(Prolog.73). She feels that she deserves the selfsame rights as anyone else. My friends will typically describe me as a woman who stands up for my virtues. Everyone that I associate myself with end up asking me for help; I don't mind it at all. Antigone and I are both incredibly headstrong, we like to get exactly what we want, and we will do whatever to get it. Our attitudes correlate with each other, whether it be around others or just by
