Back in the Marveloso Valley, our team was provided with money to excavate up to three sites. In sector 4, the group decided to further pursue the following sites: MARV-61, MARV-69, and MARV-75. One of the reasons we decided on these particular sites is that all three come from the La Plata phase. The La Plata phase occurred between the years of 1000 to 1450 AD. During this time, the Wari Empire collapsed and the valley segmented into local kingdoms in some coast and highland areas. Since sector 4 is located in the highlands, it is probable that this region had been divided into kingdoms. By further investigating three sites from the same phase, we believe we will be able to have a better understanding and a larger plethora of knowledge about this time period. In addition, because the majority of our sites came about from this era, the team believed it was a wise thought to focus on the La Plata phase. Another reason we chose these sites is because of their grand distances from one another. All three are located in the vicinity of the river but MARV-61 is located at the lower end, MARV- 69 in the midsection, and MARV- 75 near the upper portion of the sector. Given the information that sporadic warfare was common during this period, we thought this was a significant observation and would provide additional background information to any artifacts we may find at the sites. The final reason as to the designation of these sites is the varying structures found at each. Since each site had different structures and therefore different purposes, as a team we believed that this would give us more insight into those particular aspects of life during the La Plata Phase. When it comes to excavation, a mixture of test pits as well as large trench excavations will be utilized. At MARV-75 (8739750 Northing, 335395 Easting), we would use a series of test pits in the site. In regards to this site, we are given information that there is evidence of "a village with public

For many years, in an area approximately 150 miles inland of South Africa, west of the port of Maputo, farmers and other local residents have noticed remnants of an older settlement that they were told were just small random wall structures used by indigenous people; most likely to round up cattle (picture on left). Johan Heine, a local fireman and pilot, started flying over the area and noticed that they were not a bunch of disconnected ruins, but instead seemed to be a part of an ancient metropolitan. He got in contact with fellow South African Michael Tellinger, who researches ancient civializations and had just written the book Slave Species of the…

    1. Plot: Garson Poole is the owner of Tri-Plan Electronics. One day, he wakes up in a hospital to find out that he lost his hand during a squib accident. What is worse is that he is told by the doctors that he is a human-appearing organic robot, something called an Electric Ant. Then he learns from a futuristic computer that his subjective reality is being fed from micro-punched reality tape in his chest cavity. He conducts experiments on himself, first by glazing over a couple of holes and then punching new holes to see what effect this has on his reality. The more he starts to know and understand about his reality, he gets even more and more curious about what would happen when he cuts the tape. And when he does, it becomes too late.…

The main questions I hope to answer in this paper are why the Pre-Clovis and Clovis cultures matter, and how does one existing before the other affect today’s indigenous population, as well as the environment? By looking at the debate that was unearthed when pre-Clovis artifacts were first found, and by researching the reasons scientists have for believing either of the two theories, I am going to resolve the issue, and look at how that conclusion has an effect on today’s life. The primary sources for this information are mainly the reports of findings from archaeological digs and the dating of artifacts found, such as human coprolites and spear points. Some…

ABC Consultants was approached by the Macquarie City Council to undertake an analysis of the ant colonies and species richness in regards to eating locations on the campus and to determine if pest control was warranted in the university. ABC Consultants conducted an experiment to examine species richness, abundance, and species composition at different sites over the central and eastern areas of the university. We observed and collected samples from 2 site types, classified as ‘eating’ and ‘non eating’ areas, to examine the potential relationships between microhabitat and ant foraging behaviours. Each visually different species (morphospecies) was counted, analysed, photographed and identified. Data collection methods included taking photographs with both a digital camera and using a Moticam apparatus on a stereo microscope to examine the morphology of the ant samples collected.…

The fortification on Markovi Kuli – Vodno was built somewhere before the middle of the 6th century. Considering the information preserved in Menander, which coincides with the archaeological finds, the first possible date of the destruction of the fortification walls and the triangular tower is the time of the Slavic raid in Hellas in year 578/579. At this point, we should correct previous researchers about that the polygonal tower - bastion isn`t built in the period immediately after this damage to the fortification was done. Firstly follow the reconstruction of the walls and the triangular tower (fortification phase 2), and the bastion was built afterwards (fortification phase 3). This interpretation is based on clearly visible mortar…
