Answers to Question
Answer to Questions and Problems 1) In a strain gauge bridge, what does (a) a negative reading on the zero centered meters imply? (b) a positive reading on the zero centered meters imply?
- A negative reading on the zero centered meter implies that the strain gauge is under compression. Whereas, a positive reading implies that the strain gauge is under tensile / tension.

2) Beside strain gauge transducers, what other transducers can be used in a bridge circuit?
- Besides strain gauge transducers, many materials can be used as a makeshift bridge circuit. Materials such as photoelectric which absorbs light and convert the light energy to electrical energy. Etc..

3) Before any strain is applied, the bridge is balanced with R1= 1k, R2= 100, R= 625 and R= 0. Determine the strain if the bridge was rebalanced with R= 2.4.
Given: R1= 1k R= 0 R2= 100 R= 2.4. R3= 625  Req’d: Rsf.
Solution:

4) The bridge from the previous problem is balanced this with R1= 3k , R2= 100, R= 1250 and R= 0. Determine the strain if the bridge was rebalanced with R= 6.4.
Given: R1= 3k R= 0 R2= 100 R= 6.4. R3= 1250 
Solution:
Rs= (100/3k)(1250)
Rs= 41.67

Rs= (100/3k)(6.4)
Rs= 0.21

Rsf= 41.67 + 0.21
Rsf= 41.88

5) Determine the value of Rx from the balanced bridge shown in the figure below.

Solution:
*From the balance bridge about we can say that:

20(10)=Rx(5)
Rx= 40

    Essay On Truss Bridges

    Truss bridges are recognizable because of their numerous, relatively small interconnected triangles. This framework of triangles is used for is strength to withstand tension and compression forces. They are considered a light-weight yet a very stiff form of construction. At first they were built of wood, then with the discovery of welding they began to build then using iron, then steel. Occasionally, a combination of the materials may be used. There are actually 30 different kinds of truss bridges. Truss bridges were commonly built before the 1930’s. They are considered expensive to build today and are considered to be labor intensive and costly to maintain. Truss bridges are frequently found to be used for railroad bridges and typical spans can range from 40m to 500m.…

    Before I get into the physics of the bridge you need to know what a truss bridge is and how it works. A truss is a structure composed of members connected together to form a rigid framework. Members are the load-carrying components of a structure. In most trusses, members are arranged in interconnected triangles, as shown below. Because of this configuration, truss members carry load primarily in tension and compression. Because trusses are very strong for their weight, they are often used to span long distances. They have been used extensively in bridges since the early 19th century; however, truss bridges have become somewhat less common in recent years. Today trusses are often used in the roofs of buildings and stadiums, in towers, construction cranes, and many similar structures and machines.…

    MEASUREMENTS OF CENTRAL TENDENCY The appropriateness of using the mean, median, or mode in data analysis is dependent upon the nature of the data set and its distribution (normal vs non-normal). The mean (denoted by x) is calculated by dividing the sum of the individual data points (where Σ equals “sum of”) by the number of observations (denoted by n). It is the arithmetic average of the observations and is used to describe the center of a data set.…
