An equal opportunities approach also requires individuals are not treated differently based on age, race, disability, gender or sexuality. The equal opportunity approach requires practitioners to reflect on potential and barriers to opportunities and propose and implement changes to overcome any barriers. This approach to managing difference and diversity has had much success in improving equality and inclusion. Much of this improvement has been brought about by anti - discrimination legislation such as; Sex Discrimination Act 1975, Equal Pay Act 1970, Race Relations Act 1976, Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and Equality…

Equality, diversity and Inclusion are all inter linked. In my role as Service Manager it is my role to ensure that anti-discriminatory practice is promoted as a key organisational value. It is essential as a manager that I raise staff awareness about equality, diversity and inclusion. Inclusion is a sense of belonging, feeling included, and feeling respected, valued for who you are, feeling a level of supportive energy and commitment from others so that you can achieve your best. Inclusion ensures everyone has access to resources, rights, goods and services, and is able to participate to activities. Equality does not mean treating everyone the same because people are all unique. People have different needs at different times to meet these needs effectively we need to engage with people as…

As they try to incorporate more people into the military by means of newspapers, social media for example advertisements with different cultures interlinked talking about their experiences and hosting open days or setting up conferences that can be searched via the web making it more aware for the average person to see what it would be like if they joined the army and in regards to the support that is being offered if they require it. For the equality and diversity they have training to improve on the understanding of other cultures, religious beliefs and being able to respects those around them, there are also legislations put in place which are connected to the many acts they now follow (Equality Act 2010, Civil Partnership Act 2004, Employment Equality Regulations Act, and Sexual Orientation Regulations Act 2003).…

The program that I chose to create is a community service program for adolescent girls with addiction problems, which will be called Calhoun Community Services, Inc. “ According to Community Support Service, LLC, (2010), a community support service is an agency committed to providing quality family style residential services. There is a strong belief that individuals who are currently institutionalized or placed in group home settings can better benefit from a private home placement. Community Support Service is founded on the belief that a person can achieve desired goals with the assistance of support systems. At Calhoun Community Services we believe that the most compounding and influencing factors that contribute to one’s ability to establish, implement, and accomplish desired goals are rooted in the makeup of the home environment.” While many people believe that these types of programs are unnecessary, these programs are beneficial to our youth and families.…

Some challenges within the public sector when trying to promote diversity is the resistance to accepting change, because some people are not as willing to accept change and also adapting to a new and changing environment. Promoting diversity in the public sector can be difficult to engage the community in promoting diversity and having the appropriate preparation for what is necessary in addition to promoting diversity. Other issues are that trying to promote diversity questions fairness within recruitment and trying to promote those that are qualified, or meet the standard and classifications of others…
