Anne Bradstreet’s view of love and reward is clearly expressed through her writing. Bradstreet expresses her love for her husband by comparing it to worldly riches and luxuries. For instance, in the second stanza, she says “I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold”. Here, she states that she values her husband’s love more than gold mines. Additionally, she states,” My love is such that rivers cannot quench”. This shows that Bradstreet’ s love is very abundant. Anne Bradstreet is a puritan who believes that love is rewarded in heaven. As a result, she states, “The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray”. Anne Bradstreet uses images of wealth to express her deep love for her husband. She compares her love to various luxuries such as the
