Zoos
Persuasive Essay

What do you think about animals being in zoos? Some people think they should be because it keeps them safe from dangers in the wild. Others believe they sould live in the wild where they can be out in the open. I think that animals should be free to live out in the open, where they belong. The question is, what do you believe? Animals in zoos tend to die faster then animals that live in the wild. There isn't enough space for the animals to run around like there is in the wild. Some animals can be found paceing around the habbitat, most suffer from behaveral problems. The animals born in zoos almost always die prematurely. In some zoos they kill animals fue to crowding and over population. There are also rumors that some zoos work together with travling circuses, that treat the animals pourly. Zoos take a lot of their animals from the wild, which can cause upsets in population. These animals are taken from there homes and locked up in cages, they cant live like that a be healthy. Animals in the wild have longer lives then animals that live in zoos. In the wild there is as much room they need. When an animal stay in the wild they can live freely and they survive better overall. The animals population doesn't need to be kept at a certain pace because there is no room for them. While people spend millions upon millions of dollars to keep animals in the zoos, their natural habitats are getting destroyed where they could stay at no cost! When they are in the wild they learn their much needed hunting and survival skills. As you can see there are very many reasons that animals should be free. They survive better in the wild. They live longer. Many animals that live in zoos die and get sick very easily. I hope that after reading this you can agree that animals should be free and not stuffed into some cage. Animals in zoo are used to bring in money, people pay to see them, all the zoos care about is the money not the

Firstly, the zoo provides animals with proper shelter, which is very important to help animals survive in certain conditions. Endangered species are those at immediate risk of going extinct. The primary factors leading to species becoming endangered include habitat loss, pollution, introduction of other species, and overexploitation. Living in an enclosed environment, the animals at the zoo have the opportunity to become safe from any predator that they would have to hide from in the wild. Also, certain animals cannot survive in assured weather conditions. That is why being able to live at the zoo, they are already provided with different shelters throughout different weather conditions that they can feel comfortable in. There are so many manmade dangers out in the wild that the animals at the zoo do not have to deal with. The recent construction of wind farms has created a unique challenge for different species (mainly bats) as well as climate change. It may pose a significant threat to certain species as well because it changes their migratory and hibernation patterns. Living at the zoo, species are being protected from wind farms and climate change because they are being held in captivity. Therefore, living at the zoo prevents them from…

Zoos are like internment camps and should be shut down. Animals deserve the right to live out their lives in their natural habitat, not be the source of human entertainment. Zoos are more detrimental to animals than they are good for them, even though there are conservation efforts and educational purposes for having animals in captivity. The negative aspects far outweigh any positive effects when it comes to having animals in captivity due to poor living conditions, failure to educate, and psychological trauma.…

Zoos appear to be fun, but as you get more in depth are they what they seem to be? If animals could talk they would answer that question with “no” but, they cannot. So, instead of them telling you the horrors of zoos, I will. In zoos, animals are forced to live in a small area and have to learn to adapt to a new lifestyle. Some animals suffer from serious problems that they would most likely not experience if they were not in a zoo. Zoos affect the animals wildlife, their natural behavior, and zoos cause injuries and deaths upon animals and humans.…

Many zoos have rescued tons of animals and have given them a safe place to stay while they heal. The zoos have rescued animals from birds to sea creatures. Without zoos, some animal species could even be close to being endangered. In the wild, if an animal gets injured, they don’t have doctor like we do. If they are found injured…

Animals are better observed and learned from in the wild. A lion is better observed hunting and roaring than in captivity as a disheartened prisoner. Not only should the captivity of animals be banned, but an animal is better examined in its habitat hunting, howling, roaring, ext. People learn more about animals living in their natural habitat than in cages. To add on,zoos take away innocent, young, healthy animals away from their herd or family. Not only that but Copenhagen Zoo killed a baby giraffe by the name of Marius. After many have tried to convince the owners to let it live and after all the zoos option they decided to kill it and feed it to lions.…

First and foremost, for zoo’s, keeping these wild animals help us humans research the lives of these, “wild” animals. Yet these “wild” animals are instead put in cages, making them not so “wild” animals. As stated in the article, “What’s Wrong with Zoos?” by Amy Whiting, “Research conducted in the artificial environment…

For many years people have debated whether zoos are bad or good. There is the debate about animal cruelty to some extent because the animals are locked up in a cage where they have no freedom. And the other one is how animals in captivity is a good cause due to the dangers that are present in the wild now in days. These two points are an endless debate in which both sides are equivalent to each other. Yet I strongly believe that animals in captivity have more chance of survival than if they were released back into the wild.…

Zoos all across the world impact animals in huge ways. They can cause them to grow out of or into some habits. They can lose their instincts or get new ones. Zoos, however, have a purpose: to protect and care for animals. Hurt animals, weak animals, just normal animals, and especially endangered animals. They all protect and care for animals, but in various ways.…

Supporting evidence is zoos have breeding programs for endangered species, In the wild, these animals may have trouble finding mates and breeding. The captivity of animals in zoos has been a conflict for some time now. Many people think zoos are a form of cruel and unusual punishment for wild life. Many people believe an animal in captivity is denied its rights to freedom. Others believe it is a way to preserve endangered species while at the same time educational for the public. There are pros and cons to both sides, however, the use of zoos is not a necessary evil and should in fact be retired.…

If you think about it zoos are sometimes the only reason a certain animal exists, for example the Red Wolf, Karner Blue Butterfly, and the California Carner were all saved from extinction by zoos! People love to come see animals at the zoo and with that many they get from customers a portion of it can be used for building habitats for animals close to extinction or high in value for poachers. Although some may argue that being in zoos captivates them but pretty much all the time the animals don't rebel. I think that having zoos help keep animals safe from certain outside forces that they stand no chance against like cars, weird weather conditions, and like I've been saying poachers.…

Zoos are like animal insurance, preventing predators from being able to hunt them down. As some may say, zoos are cruel and harsh punishments for the poor little animals that happen to be on display, but zoos are nothing in comparison to the devastating, murderous reality of the forests. According to the “Why Zoos Are Good” article,”They will not suffer from the threat or stress of predators (and nor will they be killed in a grisly manner or eaten alive) or the irritation and pain of parasites, injuries and…

Zoochosis. Another reason why I think zoos are bad is because these animals develop a disease called Zoochosis. Zoochosis is a disease animals get when there inside an enclosure for too long. According to PETA, (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), Zoochosis side effects contain the following: Pacing, Ripping off their own skin, Twist their necks, Go in never ending circles, bob their heads up and down, Etc. I’ve seen many animals when i go to zoos doing exactly what's listed. I think when zookeepers see these signs they should set them free. And i know that pretty much means every animal but they don't deserve to be in a enclosure like that.…
