The ability to regenerate body parts is a more challenging process but is shared by Planarians, Annelids, some amphibians, most lizards, and many arthropods. This characteristic has evolved in such a variety of species mainly through convergent evolution. It is difficult to establish clear rules for regeneration ability among a larger diversity of organisms (Agata & Inoue 2012). In each phylum from sponges to mammals, there are regenerative species present (Agata & Inuoe 2012). A more challenging aspect of studying regeneration is the different levels at which it can occur. Many organisms regenerate entire bodies, limbs, organs, skin, hair and nails. Others have little or no regenerative properties. Regeneration is mostly found at higher rates in organisms at immature life stages. In crayfish, the anterior claws and legs can regenerate over time because they are not weight-carrying…

Jacob’s takes this phrase and writes his short story The Monkeys Paw around this phrase. We all wish for something extraordinary out of life, Hell, even I have my occasional “God, I wish…” ; but as we all know “ask and thee shall receive” is easier said then done. Jacobs interpetation of wishing is similar to alchemy in which the first law known as the law of equivalent exchange, which states “Human kind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain something of equal value must be lost.” This is the main premise of the story in which everything that is wished comes with a horrible cost.…

The jaws found on a typical crocodile and an alligator are also different. The upper and lower jaws of the crocodile are essentially the same width, with the teeth exposed in an interlocking pattern. They also have a large, protruding fourth tooth on the lower jaw that is accommodated by depressions in the upper jaw just behind the nostrils. The alligator, however, has a wider upper jaw, allowing the lower teeth to fit into it snugly, effectively hiding them from view. Only the teeth of the upper jaw are exposed along the lower jaw line. Crocodiles have long, narrow, V-shaped snouts, while those of alligators are wider and U-shaped.…
