Animal Farm The author George Orwell captures characteristics in all of the animals and relate them to individuals who corrupt our society today as well as the civilians who has to live with the aftermath of the corruption. Growing up in England during the early 1900’s and being surrounded by the unfair class system really inspired him to compose the short novel “Animal Farm” (Yabroff). George Orwell was a very unique character, he was not afraid to point out the flaws of society with the help of his writing. He was born June 25, 1903 in Motihari, India. Orwell's mother brought him and his sister to England one year after he was born. He went to boarding school in England and later proceeded to earn a college education. It did …show more content…
People's opinions are very necessary to take into consideration, especially for world leaders in order to reassure the well being of their citizens. The animals on the farm had no voice. (Telgen, Hile). Democracy should not be a privilege, but a rule that everyone must follow in order to make any major decisions regarding a large amount of people. George Orwell does a fantastic job when shedding light on this issue in “Animal Farm”. The pigs used wipes and an army of dogs to control the animals. (Seidel). The brutal approach he took to really make sure to get his vision across of how dictators act as well as how much they value their power. The animals on the farm were so passionate about breaking free from the pain and suffering that their owner caused them only to get chained up tighter than before. Power is a very dangerous in the wrong person's hands. Napoleon leads them to freedom only to be blinded by all of the power now available for him to just snatch. The power hungry tyrants still exist in our modern society. Napoleon took a very ruthless approach when he was trying to take over the farm and transform the newly freed animals into loyal follower. “The watchdogs are always keeping them tamed” (Seidel). Establishing fair among the animals, let him have all of the power and abuse it as he wished. Due to our involvement over time, dictators now a days will not be able to control a country simply by trying to make their people fear them. Being that North Korea is still a communist country they have a dictating leader by the name of Kim Jong-un (Korea DPRK). He keeps his power over the Korean people by isolating the country from the outside world. The people of North Korea do not have access to the internet nor technology in general which makes it impossible for them to communicate with the rest of the world. (Korea DPRK).     George Orwell was born Eric Arthur Blair. He was born on June 25th 1903 in Bengal, India to a British colonial civil servant. About a year after his birth, Orwell was brought back to England by his mother along with his older sister. He began writing poems at the age of four, ultimately getting one of his poems published in a local newspaper. In 1911 he went to St. Cyprian's, on a partial scholarship, in the coastal town of Eastbourne, where he got his first taste of England's class system. There he began to read the works of Rudyard Kipling and H. G. Wells. He was exceptionally intelligent that he received a scholarship to study at Eton college. After graduating, Orwell joined the India Imperial Police Force in 1922. After five years, he resigned his post and returned to England. He wanted to try his luck as a writer. He would spend his time between England and Paris, thus writing his first major work Down and Out in Paris and London. He felt that it would embarrass his family, so he published it under the pseudonym George Orwell. He was not successful and began to take up any job offer just to make ends meet.     1. Dictators or other totalitarian forms of government have actually been the historically dominating kind of government through most of the human history. You do have some early examples of democracy in early history as well: for instance, you have the government of the early Roman Empire, and Greece of the classical antiquity. However for the most part politics has been a power struggle between already powerful people, or assigned to kings or emperors, which mostly made all the major political decisions themselves. In newer history, and as what happened in Animal Farm, for a dictator to take over there is usually some common factors present in the society. Among these one usually find a society in disorder, weak governments, and dissatisfaction among the people living within the society. One example is Germany in the 1930’s: The country was suffering from the consequences of major inflation due to an economic crisis after they last the First World War; in addition, most people were quite dissatisfied with the present government. They actually felt like no matter what they voted for the government elected never got any of their cases through. As a result of this desperation grew among the people, and when Hitler came with his extreme nationalistic, political party, he was the best answer many of the Germans could see to a strong independent leader, which they needed. Then with his intense speeches, and with some events, as when the parliament building was set on fire, it was easy enough to blame everything on the previous governments, and make them the scapegoat of the society. Then as he was set in power he gradually changed the rules, exactly as Napoleon did, to fit his personal intentions of taking over Europe, while blaming everything on all the non-Aryan races. He ended up making himself the supreme leader, as Napoleon also did, and the case was the same for Stalin, and most other dictators of newer history.…
