BRISBANE, THE CAPITOL and most populous city in the Australian state of Queensland, and the third most populous city in Australia, lay south of the beautiful beaches of the Sunshine Coast. For the longest time, Brisbane had been seen as something of a poor cousin to Sydney and Melbourne, a sleepy little country town hiding behind a big city facade. But by the outbreak of the Pacific War it was transformed into a bustling garrison city. The combined effect of petrol rationing and American and Australian servicemen, saw tram patronage surge to nearly 35-million passenger journeys in 1941-42 alone. The previous highest figure had been about 24-million in 1928.…
JOHN BLACK RAVEN is a proposed one-hour dramatic western television pilot set in 1865. The world created feels authentic and believable. The old west comes to life.…
Additionally he also uses Ethos to get his point across. When it was discovered that Snowball was coming to the farm at night, Squealer had to make sure they thought it was him. “Snowball was in league with Jones from the very start!”(55). This is a good example because even though some of the animals disagree, Squealer continues to push the idea. By this he shows that even with doubt, he makes their disagreements dissolve away. During the…
Squealer has all the animals believing propaganda, and it brainwashed them, and made them feel as if nothing is wrong on the farm. The number one reason why Squealer is now also corrupt is because of Napoleon’s self corruption. Squealer lets Napoleon order him around because if he didn’t do so, he would probably be killed or harmed. Squealer lies for Napoleon, as he said, “Snowball has sold himself to Frederick of Pinchfield Farm…”, (Orwell 118). Squealer had no choice, but to let Napoleon control him, otherwise he would have been harmed or killed, and no good would have come out of it.…
In George Orwell's Animal Farm, power and control of the farm shifts from Mr. Jones to Snowball and from Snowball to Napoleon. Each, no matter how well their leadership, was corrupted by power in some way as compared to Russian leaders of the time. The most corrupt, Napoleon, uses several methods of gaining more power and luxury.

Like Stalin, Napoleon uses a Propaganda Department to make himself look good. The one responsible for Napoleon's looking good and propaganda is Squealer. With a name like Squealer he better be damn good using his wits to Napoleon's and the pigs' advantage. In the seventh chapter, Squealer responds to Boxer's question of whether Snowball fought bravely at the Battle of the Cowshed by making Snowball look deceiving.…
Did you know that over 4 million dogs are bred in puppy mills each year? Puppy mills are cruel to dogs and very inhumane. Dogs don't experience their lives like dogs are supposed to. I think puppy mills should be illegal and shut down.…
Language can control and manipulate situations in many ways. In the book "Animal Farm" situations are twisted and turned around with the use of language and propaganda, thus being done so by a pig named Squealer. Propaganda is information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view. Squealer can talk his way out of everything, but why he can do this is because of his outstanding use of clear and precise language.…
Propaganda has been used all through history as fuel and justification for countless revolutions and political regimes, in both negative and positive ways. Propaganda is simply a type of communication intended to persuade and impact the views and thoughts of people into certain, predetermined views and thoughts. It is more than a lie; it is systematic and intentional. A common example is the widely known American “We Can Do It!” poster used to motivate women during World War II, which certainly sends a positive message. But propaganda can also be harmful, blinding and cruel. For instance, ruthless Nazi propaganda that ran rampant in Germany during the very same World War. In this kind of propaganda, ideological ideals…
Remember that nice juicy steak you had for dinner last night, well chances are that, that steak contained antibiotics that are the cause of many of the superbugs in the news lately. There is a lot of controversy around the use of antibiotics in livestock and the risks or benefits of using it, but for the most part the risks outweigh the benefits. Our large corporate ranch in northwestern Montana should not use antibiotics in our feed because most of it wouldn’t help the livestock anyway, antibiotics are already over used, and there is a growing market for antibiotic free meat.…
What if you were doing something you loved and a group of people came to make you stop? By making false accusations and telling lies, they not only convince themselves what you’re doing is wrong but they convince people around you that don’t know anything about it as well. When it turns out that what you were actually doing was providing for you and others, keeping animals safe in a contained area of life and carrying on a proud business. This is why animal care organizations are wrong when they claim exhibitors mistreat the livestock they raise to show and sell in fairs.…
The lies everyone is getting told on how bad hog confinements are hurting the farmers. They put their lives into raising and taking care of theses hogs. Most people don’t really know what the inside of the buildings look like or how many hours the producers are with their pigs each day. Some get up at 5 A.M. and don’t get home till 10 P.M.. Most hog farmers families don’t see them unless it weekends or they go with them to work. They spend hours making sure the ones that are sick get taken care of. They even change every time they leave a building so that they don’t carry any of the germs to the next building. People might complain about the smell, but that’s how the farmer raises good crops from the manure. Farmers in general feed the world. Without them many people would be dying of starvation. The hog Confinements are not dangerous to humans or the hogs they are actually a lot better environment.…
How many of you have been to Marine Land? It might seem all very fun, but behind the scenes, what goes on is so cruel. Which is why I ask if there should be a law against animal cruelty. As a matter of fact, I'm a dog owner myself, given that I find it very entertaining to watch shows about animals. Lately,a show I have been watching is called "Pitbulls and Parolees".…
“You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in the spirit of selfishness and privilege?..It is for your sake that we drink milk and those apples...Do you know what would happen if we pigs failed in our duty? Mr. Jones would come back.” (Orwell 26). Squealer, under the rule of the pigs, is not only convincing the animals to let them have the milk and apples by misleading them to believe they are the only ones who need the milk and apples. But also threatening the animals of their previous problem, their abusive owner from before, Mr. Jones. This pig may be like some humans, as he would deceive someone into believing they are helping, but the…
Did you know that most of our medicine today has come from animals? I am in favor of animal testing because of this so we can get faster results from them because of their short lives, they reproduce faster than us so they won’t hurt the population as much, and the Bible tells us that we can. Animal testing is the best thing we can do. Human testing is inhumane because it is sometimes painful and can possibly kill someone. Imagine how you would feel if a loved one was tested on and died. Would you rather give your best friend a pill that could save their life or lead to a horrible death, or test it on an animal first?…
'Animal Farm', written by George Orwell depicts the events of the Russian Revolution through the theme of power and corruption, The hierarchical structure of Animal Farm helps the pigs power by having the system favour and revolve around the pigs. The hierarchical system of Animal Farm places the pigs at the top and puts all of the other animals at the bottom, the pigs are placed at the top due to their intelligence and ability to manipulate the other animals. This then keeps all of the other animals at the bottom as they cannot emulate the pigs traits.…
