Mr. Jones is a farmer that does not respect his animals; he is also a drunk that lives with his wife in the farmhouse. Old Major is a very smart pig that tells stories of freedom from Mr. Jones to the other animals. One story he tells to the animals is the song the beast of England. From that Old Major spoke of rebellion and taking over the farm in the future.
The Beast of England
The beast of England speaks of overthrowing their masters and taking power into there own hands. It paints a picture where they have no masters and no more labor, which they do not benefit from. It only speaks of freedom.
Chapter 2
At the beginning old major dies. Some of the animals think of the rebellion that Old Major spoke of, and wondered when or if it would come. The pigs were the most intelligent animals on the farm so responsibility of planning naturally fell on them. The two main pigs were Snowball and Napoleon. When the animals had not been fed they rebelled and forced all the humans off the farm. Then created seven commandments.
The Seven Commandments
1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy
2. Whatever goes upon four legs or has wings is a friend
3. No animal shall wear cloths
4. No animal shall sleep in a bed
5. No animal shall drink alcohol
6. No animal shall kill another animal
7. All animals are equal
Chapter 3
The animals succeed in taking over the responsibility of the farm. They harvest the crop faster than Jones and his men could do it and was very successful. They became organized and had a voting on important decisions. Summarized seven commandments with “four legs good, two legs bad.”
Chapter 4
The animals try to spread the news by sending pidgins. The humans tried to retake the farm but the animals ambushed them and put them in full retreat. They then created military awards.
Chapter 5
An animal named Mollie secretly sees a human over a hedge and allows him to stroke her. Pigs take more power, because they are the smartest of the animals. Snowball is run off the farm by Napoleon and Napoleon takes power.

The first thing that the animals changed about the farm is the name. They changed the name of the farm from Manor farm, to Animal farm. They all learn the song "beasts of England" that Old major had taught them before the rebellion. They have also made up 7 commandments that all animals on the farm must live by.
