Analyzing The Play 'Poof'
''POOF'' was an interesting play. I like how the play focused on the many problems that goes on in a abusive relationship. The crazy thing about an abusive relationship is that the person that's getting abuse usually blame themselves for there partners actions. They feel that it's there fault that there partners is doing this. The person that's getting abuse generally feels that their doing something wrong to angry their partners. In the play Loureen is saying it's her fault that her husband died and that it's her fault that this happen and Florence says '' What's your crime?, Speaking your mind?'' (pg.1566). That's bad advice, the person that's getting abuse is asking for help and your just telling them to take it and do nothing. That's what happen with Loureen, she even said that everybody always told me, '' Keep your place, Loureen'' (Pg. 1565). Thats just wrong someone who's in a bad situation and asking for help is being told to just take it. That takes a toll on that person, that person is seeing that no one cares and that she as to face this all alone but with the case of Loureen she had Florence that knew what she was going through and Florence was kind of going through the same thing but even Florence wasn't any help because she even said ''You've even taken a thousand blows from that man, couldn't you've turned the cheek and waited?''. (Pg. 1564) This shows that even the person that's going through the same thing will tell you to just take it because she doesn't want to face it alone and this is what they're custom to.
